    Floris shaving soap

Tried a NOS Floris #89 puck in May. Fantastic scent. Best of the best. The performance was epically bad. Hard as a rock and latherless.

    Info Wanted on Valobra Soap

Same soap, same great performance, same tallow/clay undertone scent. I have a number of tallow AOS pucks and tubs of current Valobra soap.

    Getting lazy

I travel with a Guard or Sensor cart along with shaving cream. No brush. Quick and works great. Agree it’s not as close as my typical DE shave. Can’t think about it too much - calls the question on the home DE shaves.

Do any shaving soaps have styptic properties?

Osma with Alum has a terrific scent. It’s one of the few soaps I have binned for poor performance.

Bob, has the Ogallala improved this week?

    My Guess... 3017

My minimalist travel kit (shaving cream + Sensor cart) got restocked with a tube of Kent shaving cream that has been sitting unused in back stock for ages. Works great. Interesting scent beyond the menthol.

    My Guess... 3017

The last time 3017ing PdP was as a shave stick. The backstory: I was building out the shavewiki with Mblakele and Luc. They were both crazy for shave sticks so we were converting all our pucks to shave sticks for a few years. In retrospect I'm a lazy shave stick user, was probably overloading...

    My Guess... 3017

Two weeks into Pré de Provence and getting great shaves. Much better than my circa 2013 Pré de Provence 3017 effort. The soap is likely to last into 2020.

    A Question for Cartridge Users

Always travel with a sensor. Quick, easy, close shaves. I use a DE at home, which is more hobby than performance.

    My Guess... 3017

A week of Pré de Provence shaves have been good but not great. I shampooed my brush and great lather has exploded off the puck the last couple of days. A lesson I should have learned years ago.

Yes, a lot of truth in that.

    My Guess... 3017

Finished a 60% puck of Provence Sante Green Tea this morning and finished a tube of unscented Every Man Jack shaving cream in my travel kit yesterday. Provence Sante is a fabulous soap. I have one more in back stock. A puck of Pré de Provence is on the clock and I threw a small tube of Kent...

    My Guess... 3017

Still trying to finish Provence Sante Green Tea. The ring in the edge corner had been holding out for weeks. Consistent, great shaves.

What are some things about wet shaving that makes you cringe?

Rules and belief systems around never using carts or canned shaving cream. Extreme efforts to follow said rules. IMO YMMV is one of the more civilized things about this forum and it separates B&B from troll-ridden Internet discussion groups. It is a recognition that there are dozens of...

    What's your signature scent?

It was Creed Green Irish Tweed for seven or eight years. I’m now wearing L.T. Piver Eau pour Homme.

    FS: Irisch Moos, Other Soaps

You know it’s a good lot when the ABC puck isn’t even mentioned. GLWS.

What were some products you had regretted purchasing?

When I first got started I ordered a case of VDH Deluxe soap. 11 of the 12 got PIF’d.

    My Guess... 3017

Broke through the bottom of my Provence Sante Green Tea puck. Loading like I hate it and getting outstanding shaves. This is a great soap.

Cutting off side tabs of blade?

I cut my nose badly with the end of a blade in a Gillette tech while trying to touch up. I ended up getting rid of the razor over it. The razors I now use all cover the ends or are close enough that it’s unlikely to be a problem. Getting the blades in and out is not an issue for me.
