FWIW, shavedash has samples of all the scents available. I am not sure about the shipping cost though.

    One Soap for Life

Mitchell's Wool Fat 1) Nice, relatively weak "soapy" scent that you can use every day 2) Very slick and can hold a lot of water when properly lathered 3) Quick and easy to lather for me 4) Mild moisturizing effect that is nice in dry and cold winter days, but isn't excessive during summer 5)...

I want to try Martin de Candre Artisan Shaving Soap, recommend a scent.

I've never smelled the Argumes, but between the Original and the Fougere, I prefer the latter. It's one of my favorite soap scents.

How does Karve adjust the blade exposure?

I am by no means an expert myself. Positive blade exposure gives you more angles at the expense of a more aggressive feeling due to blade presence. Despite the fact that the Fatip has minimal gap, you always have all the angles between riding the cap (shallow angle) and riding the guard (steep...

    2020-2024 Leap Year Restraint/2020s Restraint (10 years)

Today I got sick of the DG Gratiot League Square scent. It is very pleasant, but too heavy for daily use. That's the reason I prefer classic EU soaps. I will probably not use it for shaving any more. With less than 1/3 left, it doesn't bother me much. The lather of the day was provided by TOBS...

Anyone know anything about a thäter 4125 boar brush?

As I mentioned in your other thread the quality control leaves a lot to be desired. Here is mine... What were your worst brush purchases and why - https://www.badgerandblade.com/forum/threads/what-were-your-worst-brush-purchases-and-why.567139/#post-10199879 I hope your copy is one of the good...

How does Karve adjust the blade exposure?

In order for the shaving plane to remain the same, the width or the geometry of the guard must change. Karve like a Gillette adjustable seems to vary the gap (length of the area cycled in blue) keeping the rest of the geometry the same. Essentially plate F is the tallest and the AA the...

How does Karve adjust the blade exposure?

Isn't it just that the shaving angle becomes steeper revealing the blade more as the gap increases while the width of both the cap and and the base plate remain constant?

2020 Shave Purchase Sabbatical - Those Daring Men with their Jaunty Razors & Jalopies

So you say there is hope. :lol1: Learning to use a straight razor is the only temptation I have these days. But it seems like another case of focusing illusion following the lines of the linked article that @GaryTha posted earlier. I am getting very good to great shaves, so I am probably more...

2020 Shave Purchase Sabbatical - Those Daring Men with their Jaunty Razors & Jalopies

I was a cartridge and canned foam user since I started shaving, always upgrading to the latest Gillette system. I wanted to be clean shaven daily, but I had to compromise. Normally, I would shave every 3 days, because my face couldn't take it more frequently. The more the blades, the worse the...

    Big day today!

Congrats! It's a great feeling when everything comes together. I was using alum daily when I started, in order to identify areas that I need to pay attention to while shaving. Perhaps, rinsing it off after a minute and applying some balm during the winter might prevent the dryness.

How did you guys get into wet shaving?

I was using cartridges and canned foam or gel since I started shaving as a teenager, "upgrading" (or so I thought) from a Sensor Excel to Mach 3 and eventually the Fusion. I wasn't really bothering shaving daily, every 3 days was the norm. I tried a few times to be clean shaven every day but my...

Still in. I just ordered my exception, so as to use the scuttle as much as possible, while the weather is still cold. Yep, my guess is pencil.

What’s some of the best boar brushes in the game?

IME there is no need to spend a lot of money to get a great boar brush. Some of my best ones are also low cost. Based on the OP, I understand that you are looking for medium-sized to big brushes with a good amount of backbone. IME, the Mondial that @Atlantic59 mentions is a good candidate at...
