    The “barbershop” scent and subjectivity...

I do not know Stirling barbershop scent. I also wouldn’t know what barbershop should smell like as I never went to one really. if you ask me what type of scent = barbershop. My answer would be soapy

Boxing or Muay Thai training- new gym

Update Boxing is still on with the same routines. There's a lot of great content available online to keep me busy for a good while. I'm still no expert. I did a speed test (where you throw punches at 100% for a period of time) and I qualify as beginner (which is fine by me). On the punching...

    Counting shaves per blades

Reporting back after a bit. The system works really well as I can use my soap in any order I want. If I would have a bigger cabinet, I could possibly use more soaps and have a bigger rotation. Right now, the "Control Soap" is the only one who got used once at every single shave. I don't always...

The one razor you regret selling

I actually have 3. Gillette Minora Gillette 7o’clock (UK) head with a cooncatbob bull mastiff handle Gillette super speed red tip they were all excellent shavers. You realize that when you don’t have them anymore! I now keep everything. i have many razors that didn’t see daylight since 2012...

    Counting shaves per blades

Yes, it’s originally a butter container (or dish) with a German stamp on it. it works well but it’s not the tightest lid. For what I use it for, it works. It may be a bit bulky also...

    Average use per blade

Not at the moment. That excel spreadsheet works well for blades but things like soap and aftershaves would take a while even if I focus on them. I believe that I have some of those blades somewhere, stashed...

    Average use per blade

I do recall buying a merkur slant 39c and selling it as I couldn’t get more than 2 shaves regardless of the blade. But that was a while back... I was fairly green back then so I also think that technique helped. I bought another slant a few years ago (I got a good deal) and funny, my average...

    Average use per blade

I will answer all questions 1) full face shave. I have sideburns since I’m 15. They vary in length. They aren’t wider than a DE blade. They might go as long as to the jawline sometimes but most of the time, they stop at my earlobe height. 2) I would say it’s fairly coarse. I get the 5 o’clock...

Which blades to order / to skip

My recommendation is to get a razor blade sample pack. Most shave store have them. Buy the pack that has the best variety but also, if you’re able to find those blades in bulk at the right price. you already tried astra. Here’s what I would recommend: Derby Feather Gillette Lord Personna 7...

    Average use per blade

I believe that looking at this data, it should give anyone a fair idea of how many shaves they should get, on average, when they buy 100 blades ( or 200/500/more). but... you may get more or less! As they say YMMV

How much soap do you have?

A puck usually last 2 1/2 months-3 months. I must have 30 or 40 pucks (the loot is hidden in a few places in the house so I don't have the exact number). I haven't bought soap or shave cream in the last 12 months. I'm trying to finish what I have...

    Average use per blade

I've been compiling data for a little while now (Around 6 years of data). I'm a daily shaver and used a Merkur 38C for the majority (about 50%) of this list. What I have here is the average number of shaves that I get from a blade. Some are single edge, most are double edge. For some, I don't...

    Counting shaves per blades

To expand or post a picture of what I’m doing. I have 10 soaps. where the yellow line is is my “control” soap. Anything to the left was used once. Anything above the control soap and right will be used. When I reach 10 ( used all soaps), I restart with my control soap and stack them on the...

    Counting shaves per blades

I’ve been maintaining an Excel file for a while now where I record everything(razor, blade, soap, Aftershave, etc.) for the last few years I’ve been using a product (soap) until it’s done. I’ve used my spreadsheet to keep track of my blades (razor vs blade, how many shaves, average, etc) I will...

Boxing or Muay Thai training- new gym

Update I bought a punching bag back in December (got a crazy deal) I made a hook in the basement so I hook and unhook between sessions. I went from couch potato level expert to really green-moving-a-bit. I did a full 30 days doing exercises online. First week was a nonstop 6 mins warm up...

    PreShave soap

in my case, I also wash my face before shaving. What I noticed is that a don’t need a product labeled preshave to be effective. musgo in particular will soften the beard hair. My regular bar of soap too. does it help the lather, I can’t say that it does or not. I did try to lather musgo and...

    PreShave soap

Musgo preshave is a very good product. You can leave it or rinse it. It’s up to you. I take a shower before shaving so using a preshave is resumed by using a regular bar of soap. if I do not shower, I would use proraso pre-post-shave.
