What are the best tactics for 3017ing a soap?

This. And it is how I did it for several years. For the last 2 or 3 I have used 3 or 4 at a time, going for 6 to 8 weeks with one, and rotating until that small group is done. Currently, though, I’m back to the old way on my Donkey’s Milk soap, with a couple weeks to go.

I need help on how should i trim my moustache.

This is the one I use. Got the package deal. I really liked the wax but it was too yellow for my white hair.

    No.88 Redux

There have been bad soaps cross my path over the years. I have, in the past, been reticent to throw any away. I’ve had some success soaking the puck and lathering on the puck, often going back to the puck for each pass.

I need help on how should i trim my moustache.

Hair grows like it wants to. Don’t be disappointed if it grows back the same. You have to have some length to be able to shape it. The fullness of the style you are after depends on hair from near the middle growing out to the sides, which is why I only trim the very outer tips. Wax is easy to...

I need help on how should i trim my moustache.

I would agree that there is no to trim aggressively. I never trim more than 1/8 in at a time on only one side a day. You didn’t say what kind of wax you tried. There are infinite degrees of hold, especially if you make your own. Some starches, mine included, do their own thing, no matter how...

    My Guess... 3017

Broke thru the bottom of the Donkey’s Milk and scraped down the sides a few days ago. Getting soft so leaving the lid off. I’m guessing that I can get another couple of weeks out of this. Initially I was using about 1 gram a day, but I think when all is done it will be closer to 1.5 grams/day.

    My Guess... 3017

I started this about 3 years ago. Usually go 4 to 6 weeks at a time with about 4 products. Then start again with another 4. Enough variation yet still get the benefits of 3017.

    Expanding my array of hats

The brim on most better fedoras, especially fur felt will snap down, but all mine have come snapped up and that is how I store them when off season.

Still going strong with the Donkey's Milk soap, after the break for some SIM. I had previously decided to use QCS Esquire when I got tired of this one, and was looking thru my stash to see if Esquire still called out. I found a jar of old Proraso pre-shave. Like many here, after finding B&B I...

What about summer hats - Is Tilley still the best? Which model is the best compromise?

Looks like a nice hat. My concern would be that the sizing is M, L, XL, I have learned to shy away from that unless I can try it on. A 59 (7 3/8) is almost always that and more reliable. I have some hats in X and some XL. And I've tried the foam inserts. They are just barely OK. Much...

What about summer hats - Is Tilley still the best? Which model is the best compromise?

I have one of those! It is more khaki colored without logo or label, and was what my grandfather wore daily. He was a farmer. Still has some grease and dirt stains. He died in 1973, so this dates from the mid to late 60’s.

What about summer hats - Is Tilley still the best? Which model is the best compromise?

Not sure what you mean by a "typical Panama", but mine have a 2 3/4 or 3" brim. Now that I'm in a southern climate, I wear a straw hat most of the year, and have a couple darker colors for late fall and early spring.

    Mess Hall Acquisitions

Used my OXO mandolin for the first time tonight. Why have I not had one of these before? I can slice pretty thin with a good knife, but this is just so much faster. Looks like french fries on the menu one night soon!

    Hat Etiquette

Interesting read. That is pretty much the practice that I have evolved over the years. Restaurants remain the biggest challenge. I have found that the maitre'd or waiter may have an out of the way place and will gladly store it for me. More casual places become more of a challenge, but I can...

    My Guess... 3017

It was back to the tin of Donkey's Milk soap today on my modified 3017 program. The SIM gave me 37 shaves from 34 grams, and I have about that much more left in that stick. I'll complete April with the Donkey's Milk and then may go on to another for May. Haven't decided for sure, but may...

Moustache at 4 Months; My Wax Experiences

EJ is one brand I've never tried, though I've had one (can't remember which one!) that I could just not get soft enough even efter working it between thumb and forfinger for several minutes! I did what you plan! Melted it into a batch of homemade wax, which is all I use now.

Moustache at 4 Months; My Wax Experiences

If the wax won’t soften with a hair dryer, then I don’t know. For a while we had a light fixture above the mirror that had the bulb pointing up. A tin would fit perfectly on top. A few seconds would melt the wax and with a partial tin the wax wouldn’t touch the bulb. Much easier than the blow...

The Renaissance of hair pomades & the new Golden Age

I've used several water based pomades over the years and never experienced that, though I only have one or two going at a time, but even then they may last 6 months or more.

It seems to be Tabac with a different scent. It is indeed puzzling as to why they discontinued it. Fortunately I have a couple more sticks!
