Trumper's, Geo.F. Oxford Blue Shave Soap.

Item Description

I was reluctant to write anything about this soap, for several reasons, one of which being that, because it is a well kept secret, albeit inadvertently, I did not want to drive it into the light; and another being that I spent a lot of time trying to find a pre-reformulated sample for comparison, which I could not.

So, in lieu of that comparison and it's advantages, I give you my review of Trumper's Oxford Blue Shaving soap. :biggrin1:

Price: Given the size of the soap (see pictures below.)
I am not entirely convinced that $10.50 as an average price
is worth it but, on the other hand, it is fairly concentrated so,
its not all bad.

Quality: It is highly efficacious, which contributes to it's
overall quality and partially justifies it's price.

Scent: It is nothing overly special but, it is very clean and powdery, pretty classic.

Lather: Now the lather is special. It lathers about as well as
most other Trumper soaps but, what pushes it over the top, for me,
is it's nourishing properties. All I can think every time I shave with it is that
my face feels very soft and supple afterward.

Efficacy: Again, efficacious, moisturizing and provides excellent razor glide.

On to the actual soap.

It comes in a small blue box with gold trim which is very regal feeling.
The soap is wrapped in wax paper, with a large sticker on it.

I did not purchase the corresponding scuttle so, I placed it in a wooden bowl.
Looks pretty good I think. :biggrin1:

I will use my Col. Conk travel brush.
The soap itself is a lovely pure white color.
Here you can see really how small the puck is.

I think it is important to mention that, this soap will be easier to lather if
you thoroughly load the tips of the brush before you load the center.

One swipe on the hand after about thirty seconds of loading.

A little bit more generating...

Incredibly rich lather, enough for three passes or more and, once you
squeeze it all out of the brush, you'll have enough soap in the tips, if you loaded the tips first, to generate another round of lather.
This is the second lathering.

So, whats my verdict?
This soap is worth having around and is maybe one step down from Tabac in terms of ease of lathering and overall quality but, still produces a wondrously
rich and creamy lather that will nourish your skin.
