SCS Bay Rum with a Twist ASM

After a few reviews here I bought a sample. The lime definately didn't shine through. It smelled like bathroom cleaner to be honest. Not what I was looking for. My wife said "well, that IS a manly bathroomy smell" I thought it was just me.

I love the scent. I bought it based off of reviews, but once I paid I figured I made a mistake. The only mistake is I don't use it enough because I don't want to waste it. It leaves my face soft after a shaver, much longer than a liquid that dries my face. The price may be the best part of all. As they state on their website " a little goes a long way". That is so true. Of all my splashes, lotions, balms and milks...this is the one I look forward to using the most.

Price: I just got a sample, so I can't really comment on the price of a full bottle.

Quality: A good milk, but with (IMHO), one fatal flaw...

Razor Burn: Does a good job, can't complain. I'm not going to rave about it like some other products, but it's not one of those balms where you wonder if it really did anything.

Cooling: It's not mentholated, so hey, none expected.

Scent: Here's the real problem for me. It. Smells. Awful. I know everyone else thinks it smells great, but next to CF or QCS lime and Dominica Bay Rum, neither the lime nor the Bay Rum notes really deliver, and together they smell a bit like a pool bathroom. One that's been cleaned recently, admittedly, with a citrusy cleaning agent, but it really reminded me of a toilet of some variety. I gave it a 1, because it's still better than Williams, but I couldn't wash the smell off quickly enough.

Efficacy: Except for the scent, it did its job well.

Moisturizing: Yup, it definitely moisturized really well.

No burn: Didn't detect any, and I don't recall having any sensitive-skin issues with it, either. It's really just the gorram smell...

Yes, it's wonderful stuff! If I had one suggestion, it would be for an alternative, plastic and therefore lighter bottle for international (UK, in my case) customers, which would keep the shipping costs down a little. I've knocked off one price point for that reason. It's still worth it, though.

If only I could swim in this stuff! Great quality, as evidenced by the other reviews, and an amazing scent that lasts longer for me than most other aftershaves. For me, the scent is similar to the Bay Rum in CO Bigelow, but the added lime makes it twice as fresh and appealing. I hated to give it an 8 for cooling, because I don't think that maximum cooling is something I always want, but the truth is there are others that "cool" better. Bottom line--This is the aftershave I go to more than any other. How can it be so cheap? I don't know, but in an era when greed seems to motivate people more than anything, the willingness of Sue and Wendy to sell their products at such reasonable prices puts them (and their products) at the top of my list.

SCS has indeed done a great job on this milk. It's very smoothing and the scent is magnificent. Do yourself a favor, if you haven't tried Sue's stuff before, give her products a try - they really are that good.

Not only did SCS hit a home run but a grand slam outta the park on this one. The strong lime hits your nose first followed by the bay rum (a bit musky) which I happen to love. It lasts 4 hours on me which is perfect for an AS. The milky consistency gives me face a healthy moisturized glow. I'd swear there's menthol in there b/c my face feels like a splash of aqua velva but without the heavy alcohol burn or associated dryness. $19 shipped in 4 days with 4.4 oz. and an unrequested free sample of another AS - blue line. SCS has impressed another customer!

My first experience with the SCS Bay Rum with a Twist ASM was great.
Price: Really easy on the wallet, especially since it came in the group buy package.
Quality: Nice bottle and well presented.
Fights Razor Burn: Did a good job. First shave with a crystal in a slim, needed all the help I could get.
Cooling Sensation: Quite nice actually. It's no Proraso/menthol action, but a rather light/pleasant cooling action.
Scent: Fantastic. I'm normally not a fan at all of the bay rums (heathen, I know) but this one works for me. I really like the addition of the citrus to it.
Efficacy: Did its job extremely well. Kudos all around!
Moisturizing: I'd compare it to the Body Shop For Men ASB or Nivea products. Great balance.
No Alcohol Burn: None whatsoever. No alcohol

I agree with everything in the original post. A couple comments. First, a little of this goes a long way. The idea is to apply just enough that you can feel light moisture throughout your beard area. Too much and you will get a tacky feel on your face tempting you to wash it off. This is not a defect, it is the way the product is designed to be used. Second, the ingredients, with essential oils, will seperate. When I first used the milk I noticed that some of the oil had floated to the top and were suspended in the neck of the bottle. Shake it up before use. Third, the scent is awesome. The citrus notes take the edge, sweetness and heavyness out of the bay rum without making it citrusy sweet. A great balance! I would suggest her Mediterranean Splash and her companion EDT or a West Indian Lime as a cologne to finish.

Sue hit another home run with this one.

Price like all of her products is easy on the wallet, and a great value

Quality Absolute highest quality standards. Sue and Wendy never fail to impress me. Products do not go for sale until they go through extensive testing.

Cooling Sensation I was very surprised, I did not expect cooling from a non alcohol aftershave with no menthol, but I did get a great sensation. I thought it must have some menthol in it, Sue told it may be from the Spearmint EO.

Scent Dreamy. I tried the EDT first, and fell in love with it. I had to have it in my aftershave also. Scent is the same, and it sticks around well too.

Efficacy Exactly what you would expect from it. Meets and exceeds my expectations.

Moisturizing As an aftershave milk, it is basically a lotion in addition to an aftershave. I would compare it to the Nivea line for moisturizing.

No alcohol burn Strangely I did get a tingle almost slight bracing effect from this. No alcohol included, so I am not sure what it is from, but I like that it tightens my skin a bit, it also has the moisturizing properties I like, so for me it is the best of both alcohol and lotion worlds.

Over all, my favorite aftershave. I will continue to keep it at hand.
