Perricone Shave Cream- Thick & Slick, but...

Item Description

The best way to get my evaluation of this product is to read my reasoning for each category... I explain why you don't get a close shave with this cream but also why it might be appropriate, some days, for some guys...

Hope this is of some assistance to anyone considering a purchase of Perricone's Shave Cream. To be clear, my opinion is NOT a complete thumbs-down.

MY RATINGS & REASONS

I gave the price a 6, because Perricone's products are well made and contain high-end ingredients. For $28 (from their website), you get a product that's great for your skin.

As I stated above, the quality of the stuff is top-notch. It's smooth and contains nourishing properties that supposedly help with anti-aging... At 29 years old, however, all I really care about is getting smooth, soft skin from a shave.

The scent is a really great, clean, masculine (musky?) odor. I'ts worth a 7 because while you're shaving it smells great. After shaving it doesn't really stick with you, HOWEVER for a day or two after the shave, your brush will STINK like this stuff, no matter how much you wash it, and no matter how hot the water is. (Granted, they say it's a non-lathering formula. BUT THEY DO recommend applying it with a brush.)

Latherability is a 1 because it lathers a little, but they don't claim that it should, so if you generally prefer a rich, thick lather, this stuff is not for you.

EFFICACY is a 5 because it is slick. When you put it on your face, your blade will glide. And glide, and glide. Becuase it doesn't really get that close to the stubble. The problem seems to be that the cream might be too thick. So for the first pass, with the grain, it got rid of most of what Greenberg calls "the bramble". But if you want to get any closer -- and you WILL want to get closer -- it requires a fair amount of pushing and pressure, which is never good for anyone's face.

Now, because it's Perricone, it IS very moisturizing. 9-worthy because your skin does feel conditioned after use. I'd recommend it for maybe the 40-50+ crowd because of the ingredients, anti-wrinkle, and anti-aging properties.

Packaging is average? 5: it's a heavy glass jar with a cheapy plastic screw-on lid. Standard shape, but the cream, which is hard to clean up, ALWAYS gets in the grooves around the edge of the lid. Not neat.
