I like a citrus scent when I shave and after reading many, many reviews of various shave creams, I decided that grapefruit might be a good choice for me. From everything I had read, Taylor's products were top notch - so I figured that I couldn't go wrong ordering this as my first "non-Proraso" cream product.
I am so glad that I did. This cream is fantastic! Right away when you open it a faint citrusy grapefruit smell greets you. It doesn't smell artificial or too citrusy - if there is such a thing. It smells sweet, and natural - nothing medicinal.
The cream itself is velvety smooth. I loaded up my brush in just a second or two right from the Taylor bowl. A little bit went a VERY long way? I face lathered with it. It coated nice and evenly with just the right amount of foam. Nothing all soapy and bubbly - a silky smooth and soft coating on my skin and just the right amount of lather to give it all some body. And that grapefruit smell - just got better and better as I brushed it on. It stayed subtle and natural - never overpowering.
The shave itself was amazing. It was like running my razor over a silk sheet. I actually had to listen very carefully for the sound of whisker cutting because my razor glided over my face so smoothly and quietly I wondered if there was even a blade in it. I can't imagine a smoother, silkier shaving cream.
When I was done, I rinsed up and could still smell that grapefruit. I can't imagine ever getting tired of this scent. Subtle. Natural. Sweet and citrusy with just a hint of that grapefruit bite you get when you eat the real thing.
I couldn't love or recommend this variety of cream enough. If you like citrus with your shave, you're going to love this!
