DR Harris almond shaving cream

Pros: scent
Cons: none to speak of
A really nice almond cream. I find it makes a thicker lather than I get with products such as GFT and Taylor's but still very pleasant.

My preference is GFT Almond, but this is of a similar quality but a heavier lather.

OK, first of all I have to admit that I love DR Harris. I have been using their products on and off for at least twenty years back in the old days when I was shaving with a cartridge razor. My scond love are almonds, marzipan, Amaretto, I am crazy for it.
It is therefore strange that I have never tried any almond soap or cream before but now when i stared with DE shaving I wanted to try.

First impression is the packaging, the box look nice but when opening the box the tub is a bit disappointing. It keep the same standard as othewr british cream tubs, but somehow I feel it lokk cheap on a DR Harris product.
I forgot that impression fast after opening the tub. What a lovely scent! I wanted to eat it (Really, I did!) The texture was average to loose and I could almost imagine it to be heavy whipped cream mixed with marzipan.

I anaged to keep form eating and after a shower, while by brush soaked in hot water, I shook out most of the water from the brush and gave it a swirl in the cream, soft as it is I loaded somewhat more than necessary - as soon as i put the brush (B&B LE2008) to my face it started to form a lovely almondy lather. The scent was very pleasant, strong but not overwhelming and I had enough lather to last for my three passes with Futur set on 3 - It would have lasted for at leat two more!

WTG, XTG and ATG, my Futur slid over my skin without effort, cutting whsiskers as it went. Even if my lather the two last tries was not perfect (I added a bit too much water) I could find no red spots on my neck or face - It¨s simply a great cream. The moisturizing could be better, but since IO always end my routine with a facial moisturizer It is not important to me.

This will brobably be the cream i keep in my collection for regular rotation beside my Arlington soap, Prorasu and some others. I don¨t want to be without it!

First shave with DR Harris Almond was very nice.
Rich and creamy lather, it likes water.
Nice aroma. Pleasant shave.
Having used TOBS Almond and Trumper Almond, I have to say DR Harris is superior in many aspects. It is creamy, decadent, and lathers amazingly.

I bought this on the recommendation of some B&B members after I inquired about recommendations for which Almond-scented cream to buy. I'm generally pleased with my choice, though I note that the C&E Sweet Almond was the most heavily recommended by B&B users. I went with the D.R. Harris because of the overall reputation of D.R. Harris products and my skepticism towards C&E products. The D.R. Harris is a no-nonsense shaving cream and you can't go wrong with it if you like almond scents.

Price: About what you'd expect to pay for a high-end cream, though perhaps slightly less expensive than Trumper's or T&H creams.

Quality: D.R. Harris creams have earned their reputation as among the best of the English creams, and possibly the best depending on your tastes. After trying this product, I think the reputation is well-deserved.

Scent: Like others here, I note that the scent fades. Based on reviews of other almond creams, this seems to be somewhat common thing with Almond scents. It could be that the scent is light enough that us guys just can't detect it very well after it fades; this actually makes almond creams a desireable choice in my view because it makes them highly versatile for any occasion. The scent is an amiable cherry-almond scent that is similar to other almond creams. It's a little sweet-smelling for my tastes.

Latherability: No complaints here. Lathers as well or better than as any of the 3T's. One thing I note is that the lather itself is a bit "lighter" than with some other creams.

Efficacy: Allows for a smooth, comfortable, close shave. I got a totally comfortable BBS shave using a sharp new blade with no irritation. One thing I noticed that seemed different from other creams is that it rinses completely away, not leaving any slick residue on your skin.

Moisturizing: I didn't find this cream to be as moisturizing as others here noted, but my skin is generally better after shaving with it than before.

Packging: I bought the travel tube. It's a standard flip-top plastic tube, nothing fancy. I might prefer something with a wider mouth to make it easier for dispensing a larger amount of cream. I don't know why I keep buying travel tubes because I always end up wishing I'd bought the tub.

I use a tube of DR Harris Almond shaving cream together with a Simpson Major Silvertip brush when traveling. The tube holds the right amount for fitting into the "baggie" security requires. The cream makes a very creamy, lubricating and long lasting lather. It lathers well with my brush in a bowl. I highly recommend it. (I gave it a 0 for price, because I received it as a gift from Cambridge Chemists in NYC when I ordered other merchandize.)

I wish the scent lasted longer. When I'm done making lather with it, it all has dissapeared. Also, my technique isn't that good, so although it feels nice and slick and wet, I can't get it foamy, though I'm sure everyone else can
I've always enjoyed the DR Harris line, I started to use it a couple of years ago, and I was fortunate enough to purchase DR Harris almond shaving cream. This cream is very pleasantly scented with a cherry-almond fragrance, and does it ever lather rich and thick! My skin tends to be very sensitive, so I find the ingredients to be perfect for my complexion. I would very highly recommend this cream to anyone who wants to get into wetshaving.
