Crabtree and Evelyn Sandalwood balm

Pros: As said above this is a really moistening ASB, perfect for the Nordic winters. If you like generic Indian sandalwood perfume scent this is the product for you.
Cons: It seems as if this excellent product recently has been replaced. I will miss it. I've been using it for some years now.

This balm does what it's supposed to as far as moisturizing and leaving your skin feeling soft. It soaks in well and does not leave a heavy greasy feeling which is great but the scent kills it. The scent is way overbearing for an aftershave balm and people have told me it smells like burnt wood and should smell alot sweeter or fresher! The scent gives me a headache!

Not my type of scent and totally clashes if wearing cologne. I'll pass on this one because of the overpowering scent and the outrageous price. I think C&E would make a lot more business if they offered a non-scent version. I'm not into all the fake scent & perfumes.

Price: At $30 it's far from cheap, although it doesn't quite enter into the super-preumium category.

Quality: Superb. A lovely box, a rubberized coating to keep the solid glass bottle from slipping, in which case you would lose the incredible balm inside.

Fights Razor Burn: It performs well here in the sense that it's a very soothing balm, although if you're still ripping your face up constantly then it's probably not the best product.

Cooling Sensation: None. It receives a 10 in this category because I'm quite delighted with this.

Scent: Dry Sandalwood. It's only slightly soapy and not sweet at all, which makes it pretty much the exact opposite of Trumper's fragrance as far as Sandalwoods go - which I view as an excellent thing. The scent lingers for a while, especially when used after C&E's Sandalwood cream, so you have to select your fragrance carefully.

Efficacy: It tones your face, but in a very mild way that you wouldn't even notice if you weren't looking for it.

Moisturizing: The 10 here indicates how pleased I am with its moisturizing abilities and is not meant to rank it among the moisturizing properties of aftershave balms in general. It's less than CAR, for example, but it never overdoes it like CAR tends to be capable of. It absorbes rapidly and leaves one's skin incredibly soft and supple.

No Alcohol Burn: None.

C&E sandalwood balm has a very nice scent that lasts for a long time... considerably longer than most other balms and aftershaves. As stated above, it works great layering with other sandalwoods... when I'm in a sandalwood kinda mood, I like to use this after a shave with AOS sandalwood cream and follow with SCS Sandalwood EDT.

The balm itself is not heavy at all, absorbs quickly, and the vitamin E and sweet almond oil in it makes my skin feeling nice and moisturized.

This balm is very good: a great dry scent which lasts many hours on me, good moisturizing properties and a very classy packaging (a rubberized heavy glass bottle). Excellent for layering with other sandalwood products, but also very good in combination with other scents (for instance: GFT's coconut oil or Bronnley's samphire shaving cream). I honestly can't think of anything negative to say. A bit pricey perhaps?
