Skin & Body Care (Reviews)

Like the jojoba oil, I had a difficult time determining which category this review should be placed in. As it can be used for more than an a/s product, I felt it most appropriately fit as a Skin & Body Care product. Price - This bottle was ordered from Mountain Rose Herbs at the non-sale price of $12.75. The amount of product consumed per use is very small, therefore, an 8 oz. bottle could potentially last for a very long time. Packaging - In a word, Terrible! It is unattractive and very...
I had a tough decision trying to decide whether this product needed to be reviewed as an a/s type product or a skin & body care type product. Since jojoba oil is not restricted to a/s use, I decided it best fit this category. Price - This 4 oz. bottle was purchased from a Whole Foods grocery store and cost around $10. Considering the small amount needed per application, 4 oz. should really last quite some time. Moisturizing/Quality/Efficacy - Inconceivably Great! When viewed at a...
If you read the SOTDs with any regularity, you'll notice one common recurrrence: Hydrosols. Right to the skinny, what are hydrosols? Hydrosols are the water produced during the steam or hydro-distillation process of a plant. They contain all the therapeutic goodies of the plant in a light, water form. For this reason, certain hydrosols can moisturize, cleanse, tone, and rebalance skin. Not to mention, the aroma is very therapeutic and refreshing. What is da Vinci water? da Vinci water is...
I was in the local beauty supply store recently, as they were the only place that carries Baxter of California's products. While I was there, I decided to take a look around at their bath soaps. What I found was a massive 8.8 oz brick of triple milled bath soap by Archipelago Botanicals. The testers smelled nice; albeit very faint. Despite the almost nonexistent scent, and the hefty price tag, I figured I'd give it a shot. I purchased the Bergamot Tobacco, and the Wasabi Mint. When I got...
I have in my greedy little mits not one, but two variants of Sue's excellent "Bath Butter." Since it's still basically winter time here in dreary Michigan; my skin gets about as dry as parchment if I'm not careful. Therefore, I'm always on the hunt for TRULY moisturizing shower products (I say truly because most claim something that they never deliver in this regard). The two scents that I have of this great stuff is "Shamrock" and "Savory Rose." Actually, I find the scents fairly...
According to Sue: ...so rich you only need the size of one-fourth to a half of a pea to massage into skin until it develops a powdery feel. Tiny bits of Butter dissolve on contact with skin. This is unfragranced and suitable for men or women; face, legs, elbows or to any parched skin area. It is formulated with a blend of Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, Aloe, Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil and Vitamin E. This four ounce jar will last a very long time. My skin is dry to begin with...
Devine smell.... like a lemon/verbena/tea tree/mint kinda scent.... really nice. Ok ok - lemme cut to the chase - this is a foot cream/powder. Basically you apply it to your feet in a "creme" form, and within seconds it turns into a poweder. Keeps your feet dry, yet soft, supple and moisturized all day long. Really the ONLY "foot" product I would really recommend. Truly nice stuff! PLEASE USE THIS THREAD TO DISCUSS THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVE NOT TRIED THIS PRODUCT, AND ARE NOT ADDING A...
I have had a chance to use this stuff for a bit now, and I have to say I am pretty impressed. The scrubbing particles are small, and the concentration is on the low side, which makes it great for sensitive skin. The scent is very nice, soft, and sweet (also comes in a green tea scent which is not as sweet). Most importantly, this stuff is verymoisturizing. It really makes your face feel soft and supple. Top notch product at a great price.
This is some pretty good lip balm I picked up at the local hippie shop. Nice smell, works well - and I think I prefer it to Burts Bee's. Very nice stuff! Moisturizes well, does not leave your lips shiny, and stays on for quite some time. It isn't as "paste" like as burts and is less of a "gummy" feeling on your lips. As you can see below it is loaded with goodies for you lips!
I got a bottle of this stuff at the same time I bought the shampoo/conditioner and the facial cleanser. This is the first liquid body wash I have ever used, as I was brought up as a bar soap guy. This has to be one of the best smelling products for men out there - really fresh and nice. I have tried it just lathering up in my hands, and with a washcloth. Both cases produce nice thick lather. I also find this very moisturizing; my skin tends to be very dry, and it makes a noticeable...
I have been using this product from Em for about a year as part of my nighttime ablutions. Here is what Em says about it: With cucumber distillate, this naturally scented lotion is perfect for the person who wants it light and fresh. Includes jojoba, glycerin and coconut oils to enrich the skin and moisturize. Soothing cucumber is reputed to have natural anti-inflammatory properties. Use on face or body anytime, a little goes a long way. This stuff is light, refreshing, and moisturizing...
Gents, it is hard to get really psyched about a hand lotion. but this stuff is just phenomenal. Wintertime around here, plus constant hand washing (kids, ya know) really takes a toll on my hands. It is not unusual for them to get so dry that they actually crack. Very painful indeed. Every evening before bedtime I like to give them a good moisturizing. Also another chance to add some scent into your life. I picked this up from Nancy Boy in the "Sweetgrass" scent. In a...
Gents, I got the chance to use the "smart shave system" for its intended time period and the following are my conclusions. Step 1 - Exfoliating pads. My experience has proven these pads to be decent for me. They smell horrid, and leave a miserable sticky residue on your face, that should be washed before shaving (if you don't wash after using this pad, and you shave with an artist club, the added drag from the residue WILL cause irritation and nicks). With that said - they do however...
Open the lid..... Comes with three bars of soap.... but one of them is currently in use  Verdict? Smells great, lathers like the dickens, incredibly moisturizing, very economical as it lasts a VERY long time just a superb all around soap... really superb bath soap! For what it is worth - I believe Caswell Massey makes this soap.
