Brut Aftershave (Euro)

Item Description

I have had this stuff in my drawer for a while, and initially I was not too fond of it. I tried it again today, and must say that it is actually not too bad. It comes in a nice glass bottle, and is only around £2.50, and its available pretty much everywhere.

The scent is nice, and different from anything else I have. I can not identify anything in particular, it is just a smell. However, it does not smell cheap like those Gillette after shave gels.

It does burn quite a bit (like Old Spice), but it also moisturises. Does a good job of fighting razor burn too.

Overall, it is cheap, readily available, and works pretty well. Definitely worth a try.

Pros: nostalgia!!!
Cons: poor skin care, overpowering scent
This is one of those products that our fathers used to use in the 70s except that it was a different bottle!!! Unfortunately, it does not live up to the reputation. As an ASL there are many others that are far better at this price point (eg: Adidas Deep Energy).

The problem is that it does not offer any real skin care. It stings a lot and leaves the face tight but not in a good way. I felt itchy all day and my skin was dryer than with the other ASLs that I have used.

The scent is what I remember from the 70s but it really is overpowering. Does not fade away too much over the day so one has to be careful with application.

Last but not least, while the glass bottle looks and feels good, there does not seem to be any stopper at the rather large mouth!!! So if you are not careful you will end up dumping the whole thing in the sink!!!

So a disappointing walk down memory lane!!!

Pros: classic smell, not to expensive
Cons: no flow restrictor
Brut is a smell that 'll always remind me of my dad, and i've grown a liking for it as well myself. Sadly i've given up on shaving 'close' because of excessive incurable ingrown hairs, but i do use aftershave after trimming it as short as it 'll go.it does burn quite a lot, but to me that is part of the appeal; and given that i don't shave close it is no problem for me. I didn't mind it before either, just something to get used to :)ow, and it is green, that's awesome :p

I can't really say much for Brut. It smells cheap, feels cheap, looks cheap . . . if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be " " ".

The smell is the deciding factor in my book. Plenty of low-end aftershaves burn and dry out skin, but Brut just smells sickly sweet to me. Can't really get past it. That said, I know a guy who sells every high/low-end cologne/aftershave under the sun, including some things I can't even find online. He's in his 60s and still, despite the allure of his wares, sticks with Brut. So while it's not for everyone, it's definitely not something to condemn until it's been tried.
