What's new

Edelstein Olivine

Since Montblanc stopped producing their English Green ink a few years back, I have been on the lookout for a suitable replacement. As one does, I stocked up with MB once I heard the rumours and still have a little, and I was interested if anyone had any experience with this new Edelstein ink. It is their Ink Of The Year 2018 and does look promising.

Do I need to take one for the team?

Looks a good ink, very dark green with shading. Thankfully no Olive Green properties.

A good successor to MB Racing Green.

I heard that Emerald Green is Montblanc ink of the year. Not sure how it compares to Edelstein. I also miss MB Racing Green.

Color aside, the Edelstein inks are very well-behaved.

Definitely, Bob. Much like MB inks, they are perhaps a little old-fashioned and very easy on hardware as well as on the eye. This Olivine (and my apologies for taking so long to get back as I was away last week) is a good ink, but as I mention in the attached text, it is a little more "green" than I was hoping for.

I am (fortunately) still working on my deep stock of Parker sapphire, IMO, it is unsurpassed as the finest color ever.
