The history of Burma-Shave

When Tom Waits was a kid, he watched Burma Shave signs go by on family trips on Route 66.
When Tom Waits grew up, he wrote this song:


Probably the best song ever written not really about shaving cream.
 
I recall seeing Berma-Shave signs on our annual trip's from west coast to east coast and back in the 50s and 60s.

The last hurricane took down a number of "Pedro's" South of the Border signs.

It's ironic that just about the only thing you can still buy in a store with the Burma-Shave name on it is a shaving brush..
