Shave Prep: Brush soaked in cold water, face & neck washed with cold water for 3 minutes Pre-Shave: Proraso green tea & oatmeal pre-shave Razor: British Popular #47 TTO for first pass, EJ DE89 Barley for second pass Blade: Gillette 7'O Clock Super Stainless green pack from Russia (2nd shave) Brush: Frank shaving finest custom brush Cream: Biotique Bio Palmyra shaving cream Lathering On: Face Post Shave: Cold water rinse, alum block, witch hazel & rose water toner Aftershave: Nivea aftershave balm and Biotique Biograss aftershave gel
Shaving Outcome: DFS with major irritation, multiple nicks and the shave with the #47 so bad that I had to switch to my trusted EJ DE89 for the second pass. I do not if the small handle plays havoc with my angle and pressure or what but I'm going to "retire" this and stick with either the EJ DE89 or the Big Fellow for the foreseeable future.
Shave of the Day (SOTD) Wednesday December 5, 2012
• Prep: Brush soaking in hot water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower • Razor: 1920's Gillette Old Type "Brownie", No serial number • Blade: Shark Super Stainless • Brush: Semogue 620 Boar • Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershaveoar • Soap: Tabac • AS: Aqua Velva Musk This old type cleaned up much better that I thought it would. Found in the wild at an estate sale store for $6.00. No cracks in handle, great shape, was just covered in years of gunk. Tabac and the 620 never disappoint with the amount of lather produced, I had enough cream for six passes if I had too. The the Shark paired to the Old Type produced a smooth and comfortable shave.
I did my ritual bathing in the Aqua Velva musk in preparation for the Zombie Apocalypse. I think if anything can ward off the Zombies it will be the AV Musk
