1921 Gillette New Improved / KCG (1) / Williams + Aqua Velva – a 100 year throwback shave -- I wrote off Williams after the last puck, but kept seeing Williams threads so I ordered 4 pucks to grate into a bowl or make a shave stick. Not wanting to “wait to grate,” I wet my face and the edge of a puck this morning, and applied it like a shave stick. I used a boar brush and quickly began to build a nice lather that came out much better than using the puck in a mug, and the slickness was there for two passes. Pass two lather was a bit thinner, but I attribute that to leaving too much water in the brush initially. Face feel afterward is fantastic as were the results so I’m looking forward to packing it into a shave stick. I normally swap a blade into a different razor every shave (too many razors), but I’m going to try using this blade in this razor til it’s done (like someone would have done a 100 years ago?).
