Day 3 of our abandonment. The dogs have been restless … JK.

TGIF! Man I was so ready for today and I really do hate wishing my life away. But I am ready for the weekend. Had a great shave today. I had used Stirling all week, but was looking for another scent to really put this week in its place. Yes, Porthos will do nicely. I really dig this scent.

I cranked up a really nice lather with the ShaveMac and got down to business. Three relaxing passes later and I am BBS for the win! Chased that with a heavy splash of the aftershave and everything was right as rain! Yes it was. I am so “that guy” today. Hope the dogs don’t mind. Life is good!

Home Front-
Yesterday I had a new internet service installed that should up my bandwidth. When they came to install, they said they don’t fish wires for inside walls. They just drill through the exterior wall and install the router. I think the dude had just missed too many meetings at Cupcakes Anonymous. The router is in my garage at the moment. Anyway, I talked him into leaving me enough coax to run my wiring where I want it and he gave me several connectors to get it done. I already have the crimping pliers, so that’s on deck for the weekend.

About these dogs. So the dogs have been out of sorts with the missus gone, I get it. And they were good yesterday, so I thought I would give them a “high value” treat. They don’t know the reason, just a little “thank you” from me. These things look like little Slim Jim sticks and I’m not sure if they are high value, but the dogs were excited. I need to go and look at the bag and make sure they are not called “Cleanse-O-Stick. OMG … these Doxies are nothing but intestines from the front legs back. I don’t know how such a small dog was so full of … well you know. Ugh … that was so wrong. Thankfully we have hardwood floors. Ok that’s enough for today. Have a great weekend.

Oh the tales of times and tribulations I have for you today. But more on that shortly. Today I thought I would go with another sample I hadn’t tried yet. Not sure if the sample is old or the scent is just really mild on this one. I think I picked up just a faint whiff of Eucalyptus. Dropped a bit down into the copper bowl and went to work. This one actually surprised me, it whipped up a bunch of nice, wet lather very quickly.

The shave was very nice and I was once again surprised with the slickness and residual slickness. I never picked up much of a scent during the shave though. Three easy passes and I am BBS for the win! That really was a very nice shave and I wasn’t expecting as much from RR. Not sure why. Chased that with some Florida Water and everything was right as rain!

Home Front-
Day 4 of our abandonment and I have the following observations. In 3 days, it will be a whole week that we have been left to our own devices. Just a chill day today and I needed it. The only thing of importance was taking a large load of clean clothes to the local thrift store. The sales from that store support a battered women and childrens shelter.

Other than that I am just bumming around. Visited with my brother FTF for a few minutes yesterday and we were planning to cookout today. He called me about an hour after we talked and had got a call from the doctors office. He had an appointment yesterday and they were calling to tell him (after his visit) that their Receptionist tested positive for Covid. Great! I told him we’ll try the cookout in a couple of weeks. So we remain isolated and wait … again. Geez!

Sorry to read that your brother FTF’s receptionist has COVID and hope she’s better soon.

Now the great thing about daily shaving is you won’t look like Nick Nolte’s mugshot so you won’t be in trouble so long as you don’t cause too many explosions and don’t get partially consumed by the dogs.

The performance of the Santa Maria del Fiore sounds very impressive.

Today I hit The Fat and tried another SV aftershave sample. Had a decent shave, but a bit messy. I had too much water in my soap, but it worked. As you might imagine, the lather was a bit runny but still took care of business. Three smooth passes and I am BBS for the win! Followed that up with a splash of the aftershave and everything was right as rain! I wasn’t sure about this aftershave when I first put it on. I’m not sure how to describe what I initially smelled and I thought this is unfortunate. But whatever that scent was didn’t last long and the dry down was very nice. Life is good!

Had a very nice shave this morning. Trying to go back to my old normal and stick with this kit for the entire work week. We’ll see how it goes. The scent sounded good and it was. I whipped up a nice, wet lather and got to it. Three smooth passes later and I was BBS for the win! Wrapped everything up with a splash of the aftershave and everything was right as rain! Life is good!

The missus was able to sneak away and come back home for about 2 hours today. The four legged little mongrels were trying to wiggle thier way in and get some attention. But I put a stop to that and shut them in a closet … JK. She filled her weekly med organizer and we got to unwind for a bit. And wouldn’t ya know, I was pulled away by 3 separate dumpster fires at the office. Grrrrrrrr. Short but sweet visit. I’ll take what I can get.

Another very nice shave with this line-up. Today was a very late shave, but so nice. My typical three pass shave and BBS for the win! Life is good!

Home Front-
Had the late shave because I had to go into the office today and didn’t get my crap together this morning. Messing with the dogs and what-not put me behind schedule and I missed the shave. I got wrapped up with things I had to physically touch at work and used my lunchtime to drive home. After work, it was shave time. These late day shaves are not too bad either. Got some grocery shopping done this evening too, so we live to fight another day.

I went ahead and stayed with The Fat and Avon. Today was another scent that is in my Avon top 5, Avon Everest. Another great lather and shave from The Fat too. I have been cutting my water back when initially loading and it has yielded big results. Nice wet lathery goodness. A peaceful three passes and I am BBS for the win! I may have stayed with this razor a bit longer than others, but there’s something about this razor. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s nice. Wrapped everything up with a splash of the aftershave and everything was right as rain! Yup, I’m digging this scent. Life is good!

Home Front-
So the dogs and I have been living on Ramen and cheese whiz since the missus has been gone. My blood pressure is shot and I am tired all the time. I was able to forage for more Ramen so we don’t starve … JK. Things have have not been bad at Casa de Milkcrate, but we are ready for the missus to return. I am working on house cleaning and laundry today. Fun times.

The Deets-
So the last two days I decided to break out some of the lightly used goods. This kit got the nod for the last two days and delivered great shaves. Love the scent of this soap, just wish it hung around a bit longer. The blade was a Wilkison that had blue writing on the wrapper. I say that because I can’t remember where it came from. I was given two with blue label writing and two with black writing and we had to compare the two vintage blades. Good shave. The razor I have had for a while and it delivers great shaves. This one, among others, have found there way to my BST box, just because I am thinning down the DE razors.

Anyway, three easy passes and I am BBS for the win! Chased that with the aftershave and everything was right as rain! Those were some nice shaves. Life is good!

Home Front-
I may have missed a few things in my journal. Yesterday was my birthday and I got to spend time with the missus. It was very nice. She was pleasantly surprised to come home to a clean house too. I also took the week off for some much needed vaca and have enjoyed sleeping late. I just talked to the missus and her daughter may try and return to work next Monday. I am real excited that the missus may be coming home sooner rather than later. She has been missed. I think that’s all I have at the moment.

The Deets-
So a different razor again today. I have been going through razors that I originally thought needed a touch up … yes they do. Anyway, I had an Amazon gift card just waiting for something to buy … and I found Sir Henry’s. I’m not sure what I think of this one, but I’m not repulsed. I don’t know what a lot of scents smell like, but I think I get nothing but Oak Moss from this one. The soap itself looked a little dry and it may have been.

It lathers ok and builds a low structure. I wasn’t paying a lot of attention to the shave, because I was focusing on the scent to see it it changed. It was slick enough for an SR shave, but I don’t think there was any residual slickness. Maybe the soap or maybe my skin was soaking up all the water, not sure. It certainly deserves another shot, but didn’t land squarely in the love it group. I walked away DFS for the win! Life is good!

Very nice late morning shave. Who am I kidding … it was glorious! I was going through my BSTP (buy, sell, trade or PIF) box and came across this New LC. It didn’t make the initial cut when I was thinning down to 5 DE razors. I snagged it, dropped a feather in it and got too it. I loaded heavy with a wet brush and I was messy. I have recently been starting with a drier brush and building lather slower, but today I pulled out the stops and got full on messy. Slinging very wet lather everywhere and it was awesome!

The New gave me three smooth, easy passes and I am BBS for the win! The New and Feather combination is awesome! Wrapped everything up with a splash of the aftershave and everything was right as rain! Yes it was. Simply outstanding! I think I will have to keep this razor. Life is good!

Home Front-
Today was the first and only grandsons first birthday. So I headed to East Texas for that and to see my wife. Had a good time, but I hope those East Texas fools have been taking their Ivermectin. I guess so, because the missus has avoided getting sick so far. It was a good time. While I was there, I got a call from my stepdad but didn’t know it until I got home.

So my Stepdad called me Monday to tell me he tested positive for COVID. He was showing no sighs, but had a headache. He was cavalier about the whole thing with wearing a mask, from the beginning. I knew it was a matter of time. So he called tonight to say that him and my mom are bad sick. Great. They have both had the vaccine so hopefully that will lessen the impact. But. Great!
