When I hone or touch up a razor, I find that the slurry tends to mar the finish. This is a bit frustrating when you have a razor with a nice finish or etch. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I like that idea! Thank you.I haven’t used a slurry yet, but you might try this.
Coat the area you want to protect with a layer or two of clear nail polish. When finished honing remove polish with acetone.
I don't have an image and hopefully I will avoid one in the future. If it rears it head again, I will post an image.I have not experienced this from slurry. Do you have an image?
Some guys will lay a finger on the blade while honing, and slurry on the finger will make a scratchy smudge looking mark.Never happened to me. Not sure what is causing that? But I wouldn’t expect it unless you are talking bona fide wedge.
Good thought. I will watch out for that. The marring usually is in the center and shaped like a fingerprint. Some guys will lay a finger on the blade while honing, and slurry on the finger will make a scratchy smudge looking mark.
