Second shave with the BBS, and I have to say this razor lives up to its name and billing. Great combination of smoothness and efficiency. I'm not as impressed with the pre-shave oil, which I was trying for the first time out of curiosity. It didn't seem to make any difference, but it did make my hands greasy, which I didn't care for.

DFS!
  • I decided to include my hair-grooming items in today's photo in honor of approaching the one-year anniversary (March 7th) of my last haircut. Pre COVID/China flu, I kept my hair really short - and did so for literally decades. Due to the current pandemic, I have not had a haircut nor trim nor neck hair shave since then.
    • Ironically, in the past, my wife has complained urged me to let my hair grow out a little more. I think she is now cured of that notion....

Pre:
Elegance Plus gel (yet again)*
Brush: PAA StarCraft
Bowl: Captain's Choice Heavy Copper
Lather: Cella (brick)
Razor: Mamba 70
Blade: Astra Green
Post: GBS Alum Block
Balm: CeraVe Moisturizer
Frag: Vera Wang Men
*Once again, the alum block reveals all!
Looks like I should be paying more attention
to closeness rather than slickness. Using the gel
as a pre-shave permits me to shave perceptibly
closer without blood, burn or irritation.
(At least this week, anyway.:001_rolle)

Stay healthy, everyone!

Needed to get out of the house fast this morning, so thought I would try the cart. Fast shave yes, good shave? Meh. Ended up with some razor burn and some irritation, that’s why I got the balm out. I should have just used my Karve with an Astra SS blade. (I can fly with that combo with no risk). Have a great day y’all!

2nd use of this soap and man...the scent is really something. It's lasting too as I can still smell it a few hours later. I am liking it more & more. Performance is okok only.
Best ever shave with this vintage razor and blade pairing. Very crisp, felt so smooth and comfortable. 3passes at setting 9-9-7 for a very close mostly bbs result. The pleasure was enhanced by the aftershave...really wow!

Razor: Gillette Tuck-a-way Oc
Blade: Feather (2)
Soap: DR Harris Sandalwood shave stick
Brush: Omega Synth

I was out of town for a few days in Mendocino CA and took along the classic Tuck A Way. It's one of my more aggressive DE's, and I don't use it for every day shaving. But with 3.5 days of vacation growth, the razor and blade glided through my stubble with ease and comfort. 2 passes left me between DFS and BBS. The Dr Harris is one of the better commercial old school soaps and sandalwood has strong, clean but not overpowering. Overall, a very satisfying end of vacation shave.
