Simpson Colonel X2L vs CommodoreX3

I personally prefer the Colonel. Can be used for face or bowl lathering. I find it to be a very comfortable handle. My Commodore is just a little too scrubby for my liking.
Commodore's handle allows for different grips... And recently reports have best badger plenty soft - mine feels like Silvertip.

You need both brushes to perform a proper test to see which one you like and you must report your findings back to us.
They are almost identical. The Commodore has a bit of a bigger knot.
I prefer the Colonel‘s handle but you can’t go wrong either way.

Is the knot pretty much the same for both?
I haven't pulled out the calipers, but the Commodore seems to visibly be a larger knot.
To my eye the Commodore is more attractive and seems over the long haul would be more comfortable.

Looks like I did alright, bought the pair for $70 US...
The Colonel’s handle is particularly ergonomic for bowl lathering. It’s my most reached-for brush.
I do not have any experience with the Commodore, but I think my Colonel X2L is a bowl lathering champ !
It's the first brush I ever bought, and now that my collection has grown to 12 brushes, it's still a favorite.

I bought the Colonel for my first badger as recommended by West Coast Shaving. I have more badgers now including Shavemacs, more Simpsons and others, but the Colonel is still a favorite.

A Colonel was one of my first brushes and one of my least expensive Simpsons. It will always have a spot in my rotation. Amazing brush for $50 IMO.
