The Ammo Shortage

My Dad always just used a chunk of wooden dowel for a magazine plug. Guess it worked pretty well.
Haven't seen ANY (other than weird caliber) shotgun or handgun ammunition in quite a while.
Glad I followed proper inventory control protocols when I had the opportunity.

Yeah. Walmart had plenty of 350 Remchester... 🤔 Don't know anyone who actually bought one. Sure it's the latest greatest thing.

Possibly some 17 caliber also. Meh.

I used to hunt an insane amount of Waterfowl when I lived up North. I think I lost my plug the 1st week I had my 11-87. It was a wooden dowel from that point on. All you have to prove to the Warden is you cannot get more than 3 shells in the gun. He doesn't care how.

I think I have some ½" dowel in the attic so will see about making another.
I have used cornstalks or even sticks in the field when I forgot mine..... It only has to work. I’m sure a dowel will be fine as long as it’s large enough diameter so that it doesn’t slide through the hole in the little retainer for the spring.

2900 piece Hornady ammo order, supposed to ship 9 Dec. Haven't seen, haven't had a response on ETA.

Been trying to ration the 9mm we had, got fed up and put it all out yesterday - 230 50-rd box of 115 ball Remington. $15.99. Gone in two hours at a two box limit.

Tired of the constant harassment from people demanding we "put it all out now!" They see us pulll out a box to go with a gun sale and create huge scenes. So now if you buy a gun from us it is a paperweight.

Sorry to hear of your troubles...people are at their worst now. It's like I tell my wife, I need to invest in the house, security, and nourishment...your purses and jewelry and perfumes are irrelevant in bad times. Much of the population do not sincerely understand preparation for survival, which includes investing in ammo during the good times.

If you do need some ammo, just pm me. This is not an open offer for everyone.

It’s getting bonkers enough that I am thinking about dropping $2K on 8000 GM215M primers. Mid-2022? I could ration that long but I really don’t want too. I’d still be WAAAAYYYY!!!! below what factory Lapua or Hornady Match ammo is running. I just need 130 pounds of powder and 10k of bullets...Did the math, more than my car cost!

A local gun shop is offering a special. 1,000 rounds of 9 mm ammo (Cobra remanufactured) for $800. They sold out within hours.

I just bought 200 primers for normal retail price. 😉

Walmart has inline ML supplies... 🤔 Those 209s work fine in 12 gauge shotshells.

This implies you have at least a Lee Shotshell loader... They were only like $30 when I bought mine.

I'll quit shooting before I pay 80 cents a round for reloaded handgun ammo, particularly 9mm.

I once paid more than a buck a shot for Norma 6.5x50sr Japanese 6.5mm ... just had to smile while working the bolt. Entertainment expense, better than going to a casino. Plus, you get the brass, which is the whole reason I did.

Hm, good slingshot and a bag or marbles from the dollar store is also shooting.

Archery, anybody?

Considering a crossbow. But have you seen the prices?

I saw one for $3000 at the LGS.

I have a hard time paying that much for a car.
