Lectric Shave -- Yielded a smoother shave this morning on 1st pass.
King of Shaves Advanced Shave Oil.
I've been using OPR shave soap, Bay Rum scent...has a mild sweet scent. It has several slick oils in it and it's a soap that doesn't foam up much. Works good as a pre-shave. I put OPR on first and then lather my face with whatever shave soap I've chosen for the morning shave.

Depot no. 401 pre & post shave skin protector sample. Last spin with the sample. The scent was not that great but I think it gave good protection.

Nuage for Men Menthol Pre-Shave Oil
Proraso green pre-shave cream.
I tried Cremo as a pre-shave for awhile. Seemed to work well.
Reading your post made me think about the Bowman Brothers oil based shave soap my niece gave me for Christmas.
The ingredients look like they might work as a pre-shave:

Proraso Wood and Spice Wash Gel
Proraso Green cream
3 Castor
2 Sweet Almond
1 Argan
1 Jojoba
Cedarwood (40 drops/100ml)
Patchouli (20 drops/100ml)
Eucalyptus (10 drops/100ml)
Cinnamon (5 drops/100ml)
Own mix is the way to go.
