Citizen Eco-Drive, Japan-market pilot w/silicone strap. The nitrided Duratec case makes this the ideal beater. Not a scratch anywhere after 20 or so years.

Here is the first "not under $30" watch I bought for myself. It's a Seiko 7N42-0GG0 5-bar water resistant watch with a Sapphire crystal.

To be honest though, I would not recommend this watch. The reason I bought it is because the prismatic black face looked really cool. But, under certain lighting conditions the combination of the prismatic face, the slender hour-minute-second hands, and the reflection of light off the crystal makes it challenging to read the time, sometimes.

The problem only gets worse as you get older. At my age, I don't even bother setting the date windows anymore. Hell, I can't even find 'em.
