    Lea Classic Shaving Soap

Agree. Very solid shave, but for me not as good as MWF. Stick a notch below Speick and La Toja

Looking For a Quality Fountain Pen

+1 for the Vanishing Point. Every single serious pen user I know has at least one (and uses it frequently).

Review by '' on item 'La Toja shaving cream'

Widely sold in grocery stores in Spain for about 2.50 Euros a 100ml stick, this is a fine product. Good performance (although not equal to Irisch Moos or Tabac) and available with a nice complementary line of after shave balms, lotions, and tonics. Packaging is cheaply made and soap falls...

Review by '' on item 'D.R. Harris Marlborough Shave Soap'

With high expecations and in response to the fine posted reviews, I ordered this soap. I really wanted to like this product and was really looking for a premium product. It did not turn out as I expected. For those that like to experiment, this may be an interesting choice. For those that...

Review by '' on item 'VAn Der Hagen Delux Shave Soap'

I was traveling, ran out of soap and picked up some VDH because it was cheap and I was desparate. Was I in for a surprise! No, not in the same league as first tier products like Tabac, MWF, Irisch Moos, Cade, PdP and others, but this is a FINE product at a ridiculously low price. Not really...

Review by '' on item 'Irisch Moos Shaving Stick'

For me, Tabac is the best performing soap available, but I am not wild about the scent. Irisch Moos is equal in performance with a MUCH better fragrance. Stick format handy for travel. For similar comparison: Tabac: equal performance, better smell Cade: Cade is a step down in perfomance...

    Most Protective Soap?

    +1 Tabac/Irisch Moos

Review by '' on item 'L'Occitane Cade shaving soap'

OVerall, I prefer shaving soap to shaving cream and this is one of my favorites. Not in the leagues of Tabac for overall performance, but it smells much better and is a clear number 2. As others have noted the metal container is interesting but like the MWF caontainer before it, not even...

Review by '' on item 'Ingram shaving cream'

SIGNIFICANTLY more menthol than Proraso, and I like that. Definitely an interesting part of my rotation, but the lubricating properties and moisturizing on not quite at the same level as its most direct competitor - Proraso - and not nearly equal to my Number One: Tabac. Make sure you use a...

Review by '' on item 'Kent/Mitchell's Wool Fat (MWF)'

I read all the reviews and was prepared for something good. MWF over delivered. Unlile others I had ZERO problems getting a good lather (I lather on my face). Rich, creamy, and full. Still not sure if it is better than Tabac, but the smell is certainly less offensive. You really owe it to...

    New Badger Brush Smell

I tried an over night soak in a borax solution followed by Dawn and hair conditioner. Smell disappeared. YMMV

    brush odor?

Agree with others, use an overnight soak in a couple tablespoons of borax and the smell will go away forever. Had bad-smell problems from finest quality silver tips to lowest quality boar. Borax soak cured every one.

Cleaning the Brush - Remove the Odor

I had this same problem with 2 different brushes. I cared for them as described: washed, dried, hung, conditioned, sun soaked, you name it and they still smelled bad. As noted elsewhere, tried an overnight soak is hot water and a tablespoon or so of 20 mule team borax and the smell went...

    Ultrasonic Cleaners

I use ammonia and dish liquid. Buy a commercial unit - you will not regret the investment.
