I was born in a log cabin that I helped my father build. I was in graduate school working on a Ph.D. in mathematics, when the Army began casting wistful glances in my direction. I quickly joined the Navy, went to OCS, and was commissioned an Ensign on the day President Kennedy was shot. I served in amphibs, submarines, and River Patrol Forces in Vietnam, whkere I was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with "V" for Valor, and the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in combat. Following my naval service, I went back to school and was ordained a Rabbi, and then reentered the Navy as a chaplain, serving until my retirement. I then held a number of civilian pulpits, and recently retired from that. I'm married, my wife is a veterinarian (I married my doctor,) have 3 sons. The oldest is a captain in the 10th Mountain division and just returned from his second combat tour. He's now in graduate school. Our middle son is a high functioning autistic who works in pet care. Our youngest is at Boston College Law School and has been named to the Law Review.
I'm enjoying my retirement, working on my cooking skills, studying Italian, and play the euphonium in a couple of groups. I can walk, talk, drink water, make love and make water. Life is beautiful.
