What Shaving gear have you “Stocked up on”?

I have a back up of Old Spice and both a puck and shave stick of Arko. The puck is in play, the stick is waiting in the wings.

    RIP old friend

Yes , the strop is damaged, that sucks. Then you beat yourself for a few rounds wondering, how did this happen. It’s a lose, lose situation. Once the dust has settled, I like the reward system of a new strop.

Weird question. Has anyone here face shaved an elderly dependent adult?

This brings back my experience of shaving my dad in his hospital bed. I’ve actually never really thought about it much. He was ill with cancer and weak towards the end. I shaved him daily until he passed. They weren’t good shaves, but he was so grateful. Being clean shaven was important to him...

Mitchell's Wool Fat - What Happened?

I sure put in my time on MWF. I had the same experience, including the primordial soup atop the blooming puck. I’ve moaned about my experience plenty on various threads. I wanted this soap to work, shaved plenty with it, experimented, did daily lathering while using other soaps, prayed to Ullr...

    De vs. Straight edge

My SR shaves are as consistently close and comfortable as my DE shaves were. It took longer to get to this point than with DE though. Considering the methods are so different, the results are very similar for me.

Sunday morning shave Razor: Dovo Stainless Brush: Boar Soap: Cella Post: Skin Bracer A very respectable Sunday morning shave. Hit freezing overnight and the old house has taken on a chill this morning. Perfect for a bracing cold water shave. Winter is coming.... 9/10

Other than traditional shaving, what other "old school" things do you do?

We dry our clothes on a long laundry line when the weather permits. I rarely see people hanging laundry to dry anymore, not where I live anyway. I like the simplicity of it and the connection to things past that some practices have. The physicality of it appeals to me. I split rounds with a...

Wade & Butcher FBU 15/16 Restoration.

Wow, nice work! I’m just starting to do some very basic restorations, just blade work for now, so that project looks great to me. Inspiring.

I was curious about DE razors so I researched a little. Videos and forums contained much content. Some razors were mentioned often as decent beginner choices. The salesperson at my local knife shop suggested a Merkur 38C. I already knew Merkur was a common suggestion for new DE shavers. I liked...

    What did you hone today?

These 3 razors were part of a set I purchased with the intention to practice and tinker with. They all have their own issues, geometry, previous ware and what looks like buffing damage and metal burn. It has been rewarding working through the challenges and learning as I go. Just putting in the...
