What did I buy? keywords: shaving stick holder, Warszawa, Polish, silver plated

So my landlord stopped by the other day to fix something (and I gather he is a bit of an antiques collector) and when he spotted this on the shelf he asked what it was. I told him I didn't know, and without any prompting he immediately said he thought it was to carry matches in. So there's a...

What did I buy? keywords: shaving stick holder, Warszawa, Polish, silver plated

You're correct - there is no real reason to assume it is shaving related. And while I consciously knew that when I bought it, if it hadn't had the hand-written sign and placed with the other shaving gear, I would have just walked on by and never gave it a second thought. I like your logic...

What did I buy? keywords: shaving stick holder, Warszawa, Polish, silver plated

I popped into a shop that has a bit of everything old & used - ranging from legitimate antiques to stuff that should be at a flea market or garage sale. They had quite a bit of shaving gear, mostly old straights and worn out brushes, nothing that caught my eye too much, until I saw this (pics...

Brush handle shapes- Please add pics of your favourites!

I'm all on board for mm! Also I think measuring from the base is advantageous as you can set the brush on a table and then measure to the table or "floor level" as a reference. If you tried to measure from the top, you'll have to get your ruler/calipers to line up with the top edge, and as the...

Brush handle shapes- Please add pics of your favourites!

I think I agree - the simpler system would probably be applied more consistently. What about adding some "keywords" to the post then, i.e. persian jar, beehive, brand names (not sure if these should be from a fixed list of options or just a free-form field)? You could add as many as you want or...

    The Speakeasy acquisitions - 2014

Let us know what this is like. I'm really intrigued by a peated Irish Whiskey. Tyrconnell is also something I've been tempted to try. It is not peated correct? More like a Bushmills or Jamesons, just smoother? I'm on the fence about picking up a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail. I tried a dram...

Brush handle shapes- Please add pics of your favourites!

I really hope someone posts the dimensions of the Semogue Barbear Classico's. I love that handle!!!!! I'm really interested in this thread and hope it catches on. I've been thinking of a good/systematic way to classify and document the handle shapes. My personal bias is on a system that...

    RazoRock "Amici" Brush

#81 is in the house!!!!! Really looking forward to trying it out. At first I was on the fence about the handle but it feels great in the hand. RazoRock Amici Owner Registry align="left" class="cms_table_grid" style="width: 615px" |- class="cms_table_grid_tr" | class="cms_table_grid_td"...

got my 2012 soc le today. thoughts...

Seems odd they'd clear-coat or paint the handle - it shouldn't need it for waterproofing as it's a plastic/resin handle, and that just adds an extra step & cost. Maybe they do it to seal in the logo sticker? Man I think I want you to paint my car! No blemish would slip by!

Why the need for multiple brushes?

I'm guessing cause "he" is actually a she. I'm glad that this is universal and not just a guy-thing, or that we're the only suckers. I've got 8 guitars right now, could easily justify 3 more, and when I thought I was going to sell one that was seeing little use, I found a way to rationalize...

    RazoRock "Amici" Brush

I also just placed my order for my Amici. Can't wait to try it out after all the comments posted here! And I've been bearding it up for about 2 months now, and sort of missing my shaves. So maybe a couple test lathers to lose the funk, and then the beard is coming off. I'll post back with my...

    RazoRock "Amici" Brush

To me this is the perfect example of why running a profitable business and a "good" or customer-focused business are not mutually exclusive: I'm sure Joe's intentions are exactly as he stated, to be fair to the guys waiting for CCBR. The side-effect of this is that all those customers are very...

Time for me to be an enabler too... but I think you should buy XXX v2.0 a little before you finish the original so that you can have a couple back-to-back days of comparison. But I suppose it doesn't really matter as the old is gone so it doesn't really matter if it smells/performs...
