How To Drill Scale Pin Holes Exactly The Right Way?

That’s what I use too. Dremel with a cut off wheel to cut out the scales, then switch to a sanding drum to shape. Lots of hand sanding. Then back to the dremel press for the holes.

Extra spare time : chill or ?

Got my touch up honing mostly done. Half got a Thuri edge, half Naniwa 12k. Back in rotation. Now to finish the scale projects...maybe.

Stropping speed - how slow is too slow?

Slow to start while learning and speed will come once the muscle memory is there. No need to go super fast either. ‘Medium’ speed is good for stropping and for life in general.😎

What straight did you use today? Now with PICTURES

Fresh off my Thuringian hone - Klas Tornblom. Last time I honed it, it was close but not quite where I wanted it. Now it’s sharp and smooth.

Extra spare time : chill or ?

I started a new job so not sure how much downtime I will have over xmas. But I have 2 sets of scales that need to be finished, several straights that need touch up on the hones. So I am hoping to get some of that done.

What Shavette/Barber-Razor and Blade did you use today? We like PICS

Traveling again this week for work so Feather SS or a DE shave. Tonight was the Feather SS, Stirling orange chill, and Gillette cool wave balm to finish it off. I always get a small weeper or two with the Feather, but always get a very close shave.

    First time sharpen to shave

Slurry is not needed on synthetic hones. Just add water and have at it. Aside from that, congrats. It's a good feeling when you can put a shave ready edge on your own razors. I haven't been at it long, but I use a very similar progression - shaptop 1.5k, naniwa 5k, 8k, 12k. If you do your...

    My Straight Razor Checklist

You can use wet/dry sandpiper for lapping the Naniwa - 400 grit or so works. Just make sure it's stuck to a flat surface like a marble floor tile or even a stone countertop should be fine. I used a 4 inch wide marble tile for awhile, but then bought an Atoma diamond plate for lapping. Much...

After shaving with a straight razor for a year at least. Would you ever go back to DE shaving

I use both DE and straight. I get great shaves from my Rockwell with Astra or Gillette silver blue blades. Some days are for straights, some are DE. Last few shaves this week have all been DE.
