INFO! Badger and Blade 2020 LE Pipe : Askwith Pipes

Just spotted this picture which shows the funnel inside the stem very well, I forgot I made this one! lol.

Yes it is. For those interested in the technical the funnel the transition from the large round hole in the stem to the wide flat hole/slot at the button. This is an important area to work on as if you have any restriction there you have a pipe with a poor/tight draw and it can cause a hot, wet...

Glad those last ones are finally filtering through. Is anyone still waiting? @Kentos do you mean the funnel in the stem? I do cut mine quite deep, I prefer to go deep and fairly narrow, I think it gives a bit more strength. The thing with the funnel is you can certainly make it too small (and...

    My First Major Pipe Disaster

The only real mistreatment that could cause a split like that is letting a cake get too thick. Sitting on them (as one customer did) doesn't help either lol.

    My First Major Pipe Disaster

Wowsers! Never seen a failure as catastrophic as that! The grain orientation is optimum as well, not usually the case in Morta pipes I have seen up until recently.

Glad to see pipes are starting to appear with a bit more regularity now. For those wondering, yes I can still make extra stems but they wouldn't have the discount since the efficiencies of batch production are gone now. They aren't crazy expensive, but not cheap either.

You are #14. Sorry it isn't super clear, Morta is much harder to stamp than Briar.

Doesn't matter too, you won't smoke it until the alcohol has evaporated anyway. Everclear would be great from what I understand but that's not something we can get in the UK. I use 99% pure isopropyl for cleaning pipes since I have it on hand for use in staining pipes anyway.

Bugger I can't go back and edit it now, meant to say "lightly alcohol moistened pipe cleaner"

I honestly don't know how he managed, he only returned the pipe because bits of the chamber were falling out, said it was his best smoker up until then!

Oh yes, I completely forgot about that, my apologies. It's quite simple really. Firstly, don't worry about break in or anything, just smoke the pipe. The outside of the bowl will likely feel a little bit warmer than you are used with a briar, Morta conducts the heat better than briar so you...

You'd be surprised, I had someone burn out the entire chamber of a morta. Mind you they were smoking it so hot that the stem bent and the tenon melted.

No idea, the list of names didn't come from the same spreadsheet as the order numbers so for some people it might match up but for others it won't.
