What happens to the blade with bad strop technique?

If you rotate the blade on the edge side you'll very soon be waiting for your second strop to arrive. I believe too much pressure on the strop can lead to "rolling the edge" which would basically be just what it says and bend that nice sharp edge over just enough to dull it instead of lining...

What straight did you use today? Now with PICTURES

No pic but had my best shave ever with a SR this morning!! Finally learning to add in what works for me and make the razor mine. Two day growth, AOS preshave oil. Tabac, mystery brush. Hart 5/8 w/coco bolo scales, pasted balsa edge. Two passes, WTG and ATG. Managed something between a CCS...

Still in... but a custom Feather DX in BTS is seriously working on me. Had a few extra minutes this morning so went with the straight razor. AOS unscented pre-shave oil. Paladin Moby brush. AOS Lavender soap. Still very new to using a SR so I can't say it was a great shave but my skill is...

If that DX doesn't have a new home on June 1 when the May GRUME is over I just may have to take it off your hands!

Easier to shave long stubble than short?

I definitely find it easier to get a better shave with a day or two in between shaves. As I almost always shave every day I think it has more to do with giving my face a day off than anything else.

I'm already having to resist the temptation to binge order here at the end of April... Where's the methadone?

How do you take care of shaving razors?

Guess I'm funny. I treat my DE's like tools. Loosen the cap, rinse in hot water, shake dry and blow as much air over the blade as my lungs will allow. Then scrub with a toothbrush every 4th or 5th blade... maybe. Now my straights... I treat those like Excalibur.

    Advanced techniques

The learning curve for me switching from carts to DE was like 3 shaves before I was doing as good or better than I had been with carts. My learning curve with a SR as been considerably more difficult and the shave goddess has been much more demanding in the amount of blood she has required.
