Barbasol works well. I think that when we go back to it, we are more relieved than anything else that it didn't lead to mild carnage. I do go back to it occasionally and enjoy it. Then I return to my brush and cream and there is no comparison.
It definitely helps to rub it in well to work out...

I really liked the Yellow Conditioning, but haven't seen it on the shelves in a looong time, and I've moved a lot over the past few years. I'm too cheap to purchase it online.
Today was shave #6 with the 1970 P4 Gillette Super Stainless blade. This time, loaded in a '69 Gillette Super Adjustable (Black Beauty). I started on setting 4 and went to 5 for the final (ATG) pass.

I bought a large bottle of glycerin at a CVS or Walgreens years ago and it's still 90% full. Lately, I've been adding it to Thayer's Facial Toner. Makes a great, non-greasy winter moisturizer.
Over time, I've come to prefer lighter razors. I find that heavier razors require more effort to maneuver. Thicker handles are also preferable to me.
The benchmark for me (and my favorite overall razor) is the Muhle R108, which weighs in at 64 grams. I have some Aristocrats that are very nice...
