The only thing I saw was that one side of Tech A, might have a slightly uneven blade gap from right to left. But it might not. Could have been the light. Or my eyes. No real way to tell short of feeler gauges.
Tolerance issues maybe... Blade gaps range from about .020" to .027" on the prewar Tech. They probably have different blade gaps. I've had several with different blade gaps.
Have you tried swapping base plates? Possible base A is warped.
...that one has more rounded bends in the baseplate.
If I put the two baseplates end to end and look at them from the side, they seem to be the exact same shape.

@rabidus, Have you seen one with smooth guard bars?
No, but I've seen some where it was used quite a bit where the guard bar wore down close to smooth though. Could be ware and tear.
Rounded corners and smooth bars, sounds like buffing wheel damage to me.
