What's new

Who can name movies or TV shows that have shaving scenes.

Two that I saw recently. One may have already been mentioned.

1) "It Could Happen to You." In an early scene, Nicholas Cage is shown shaving with what looks to be a short-handled Super Adjustable.

2) TV show, "Restaurant Impossible." In the most recent episode, he goes to New Orleans to rescue a placed called "Ju Ju Bag Cafe and Barber Shop." In the show, a woman is shown giving a straight razor shave to a customer. She is an interesting woman who claims 30 years of barbering experience.

I didn't expect to see a shaving scene in Restaurant Impossible, but there you go.

Ruggles of Red Gap - 1935. About 15 minutes into the movie. Scene in Paris barber shop where Ruggle's butler and his wife (see below) take him to get his moustache trimmed.

In 1908 the Earl of Burnstead (Roland Young) gambles away his eminently correct English butler Marmaduke Ruggles (Charles Laughton). Ruggles' new masters, crude nouveau riche American millionaires Egbert and Effie Floud (Charles Ruggles and Mary Boland), bring Ruggles back to Red Gap, WA, a remote western boomtown.

When Ruggles is mistaken for a wealthy retired Englishman colonel, he becomes a celebrity in the small town. As Ruggles attempts to adjust to his rough new community, he learns to live life on his own terms, achieving a fulfilling independence as a result.

The climax of the film is Laughton’s recitation of the Gettysburg Address in a saloon filled with rough Western characters who are held spellbound by the speech. Newly imbued with the spirit of democracy and self-determination, Ruggles becomes his own man, giving up his previous employment and opening a restaurant in Red Gap.

Not a shaving scene, but rather a LACK of shaving.

Every time I see this commercial, I can't help but notice the groom at this wedding. He looks scruffy and unkempt, like he hasn't shaved in a week or so. Its his WEDDING DAY, and he's still got severe stubble left over from way back. Its not like he's deliberately rocking the Don Johnson / Miami Vice look either, he just appears to not give a darn about his appearance.
