How to Face Lather with Scuttle

I have creams and want to use them, currently I'm mixing cream with glycerin, letting it sit, and then charging brush with Proraso Green or White soap.

I get much better lather with the Proraso soap by just face lathering. My quandary is how to mix the cream and soap and still face lather with hot lather from the scuttle.

Any suggestions?

When I use soaps and cream together (super lather) I load the brush with soap by swirling on the puck and applying the cream around my face in 5 or 6 locations. Then build the lather on my face by picking up the cream.

I keep it all warm in a brush scuttle (stick the brush in the scuttle between lather applications while I shave)

Do you keep the lather loaded brush face down in the scuttle in between passes?

The uber lather I was trying to go for involved scuttle, (I have a G30), and glycerine. Your method would not allow the use of added glyce drops. (not a deal breaker I guess)

And where did you get that scuttle?

Brush goes in bristles down to stay warm between passes. The scuttle is an Ambrose brush scuttle from Georgetown pottery (Maine)

You can add a drop or two of glycerin on the soap loaded brush before you start to build your lather.

Typically uberlather is a bowl thing but no reason you can't put one together on the fly.

when I mix I use a shave stick and cream (or another brand of soap).

I find it easier to use a stick then load the brush into a different scented soap than try to mix two soaps by loading (different hardness of each brand makes for uneven amounts)

Of course they don't carry it any longer.

And Georgetown doesn't stock the brush scuttles any longer either.

Here's the gear I have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001XURHAC/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and: http://www.georgetownpottery.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GTP&Product_Code=SHAV0002

Any ideas how to keep the brush warm? It's so heavy when I leave it in the bowl it smushes down and the lather gets all over the damn handle.

The Ambrose scuttle is a special order item. It was never a production scuttle and only thrown on request. You will need to phone them. Nice thing about custom is that you get to choose the glaze you want on it and anything goes.

O.k., I figured it out using the gear I have. I'll just make my lather anew for each pass, that way there won't be too much in the scuttle, leaving the brush hot whilst keeping the handle lather free. A little more work but not much more than just face lathering.

I just rest my brush bristles down between passes in the scuttle. I prop the handle against the inner side of the scuttle, and never do I have problems with the lather getting all over the handle...

I've been using too much lather, the weight of the chrome handle makes the brush sink into the bowl and the lather gets all over the handle, that's why I'm going to make new lather with each pass.

I have an Aramis shaving mug I bought at an antique store, just bought this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CJHJRPG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cheap experiment. I'm just going to use the mug as a brush holder so it won't get lather all over it but still stay warm, while the lather in the scuttle stays toasty.
