What's new

It's never been used !!!!!

Bloody hell, are people really that stoopid.......

I've seen it on ebay and on the weekend was at a local market. Lady there had a nice little travel kit with a bakelite cased Ball End Tech in it.

Asked how much she wanted and she went into her sales spiel, "there's a brush, some blades and the razors never been used......."

SURELY a blade in the razor, the soap scum and the old whiskers indicates otherwise...........

This wasn't even a "professional" just some lady with a weekend stall....

SHEESH !!!

People that sell shaving items all look to ebay to set prices, same happend in the vintage watch market which is now in the toilet.

Ian, calm down, breath in the $14 catalin...

Reminds me of the time that I was detailing the defects of a razor in an attempt to beat the price down. Guy asked me "Why do you even want it?". I bust out laughing and gave him his price. It's a funny game to play...

or the other one is when they leave the blade in for you....

and it arrives with rusty blade, whiskers and all sort of crud in place - YUCK!

From my experience, a lot of people selling razors don't know much about them. I'm willing to cut folks slack, to a degree. Heck, I've run into a number of folks who think a "safety razor" is "one of those cutthroat things".

When I get out my pocket magnifier to check for cracks and serial numbers, it often leads into a nice discussion of razors and their differences and that, yes, you can still buy blades for them and use them today.

There's a difference between not knowing much about a "specialised item" and being stoopid though ..........

How much do you need to know about a razor to know if it's used or not ???? As I say surely the razor, soap and whiskers might be some indication..........

I don't know much about feminine hygiene products but I'm pretty sure I could tell if one was used or not.......

Has the thought ever crossed your mind that maybe she put that stuff on there so you could see what the razor would look like if it had been used?

Oh, and, ummm....:scared::scared::scared::scared::scared: to that last part.

Don't be so difficult Ian! I have yet to go see the Cat Lady in Westgarth. I'm sure she will have "never used before straights"...

Okay, blast from the past but I did stop by the shop tonight (after 3 months) to look at those razors. I was around and the shop was opened for a change. She usually closes when she likes so it's a bit difficult to get there after work.

So, just for Ian, I don't know what you told the lady in the store but she remembered you. She had that light in here eyes when I said that back in Feb there was that guy from Tassie that stopped and asked for Safety Razors and Straight razors... That's all I said...

Guess what? The box is still stuck under a bunch of other things. She told me that she will specially close Friday to get to it (that's dedication). I will try to drop by again next week, she said she will have everything out.

The lady, she's scary... I was afraid that she might produce a cat from her hair at one point during the conversation. The entrance is cluttered by boxes and "stuff". About 1 foot large going to the left to get in for at least 6-8 feet. She was very enthusiastic, maybe a bit too much! I hope she get to the stuff as that shop is a fire hazard!

That's all for now.
