Did you look for the date code (number and letter) on the blades?

The box indicates a later model. Late 70's through 1990.

Just cracked open a pack- mine look the same as yours. Mine were E1 on the blade, which I think is 1985.

Mine was still blister packed, with UPC code on blister pack, zip code and circle G Gillette logo on packaging.

I wonder how those shave and what they are coated with?

I remember my grandpa using them in the early eighties.
I'm probably better off sticking to current production Super Thins.

Gillette had an exclusive patent at the time for coating carbon steel blades. Looking up the patents on the package and blades often yields some good info. These are really good blades, but have gotten pricy.....

Off by a year. Yours are 1986 and mine are 1984.....

these are the numbers off of the blade:

3071856
3501334
3518110

Gillette Date Codes are in the shavewiki here on B&B and through Google.

You can read patents @ google.com/patents

Type in the patent number then click the patent and then read this application

All three of those are patents that include adding PTFE. The middle one is a carbon steel only one, but not the one I have seen before.
