So I got a Kershaw Leek as my first EDC type knife. Only after acquiring did I bother to read local regulations. Turns out that the Leek is legal in the state of Illinois, but not in Chicago where I live and the limit is 2.5”, not 3.0”. So after perusing the Kershaw website looking for bargain options, I ended up purchasing a Shuffle, which has the advantage of having a few tools built in along with a 2.4” blade. It arrived today. Feels pretty sharp, but I’m sure I can do better!

I just received my new Buck 112 Slim Pro Trx today. I bought the the 112 Slim Select when the came out and for $30 it's hard to beat. I told myself that if I liked the SS, then later I would get a Pro. Well, the wait was worth it. The scales on the Pro Trx are G10 and they replaced the funky pocket clip with something smaller. Torx screws have replaced the rivets and the fit & finish is great. The blade is Bos S30v.

This is a pretty nice knife for just a C-note.

Not an acquisition tbh, more a rethink.

Shibata x Ikeda's extremely excellent Tinker Tank tends to come with some fairly full on grind marks on the bevel. So yesterday I thought I'd try to see if I could make it even more excellent by bead blasting and then etching it.

And I think I succeeded...
