Enjoyed a bottle of 2022 Lagunitas Willettized coffee stout aged in rye oak barrels. It was delicious. I haven't had one of their coffee stouts in a very long time, and now I'm wondering why?

Oliphant's Coconut Hunkboy Porter. A bit of a step down from their regular Hunkboy. Instead of a subtle, nutty sweetness, I picked up an almost vegetal note from the coconut, which I didn't find too inviting. Not bad, but no repeat. 6% ABV. Artwork is still the same dog doing the embarrassing "pooch scoot," but this time on a boogie board (?).....

Lager Royale, Castle Danger Brewing, Two Harbors, MN.

I was expecting a crafted American lager, but it left me puzzled. There was a resinous, piney/citrus aroma, and this dominated and carried through to the finish taste-wise. No grainy, cracker flavors that the brewer claims. Almost an IPA to me. Sessionable at 4.5%, and the brew is a sparkly bubble factory, crisp and refreshing without being bloaty. Good, but no repeat.
