February 2023 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

25/2/23 - still in

Pre - Palmolive
Soap - Kent/MWF
Brush - Omega GFS The Hog
Razor - Personna Star head on a Gillette Fat Handle
Blade - Treet Platinum (5)
Post - Witch Hazel
AS - Wars Protect

I've been close to placing the purchase button a few times in the last few days, but refrained from doing so at the last moment. My respect for those who participate in yearly restraint threads has grown through the roof!

Anyway gents, enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Good going my man! And trust me, it is far from easy being in restraint. At least for me that is.

Hello friends!

Today I had probably the last shave of the month. A wonder, that only R41 can give me. Don Byas was with me on this journey, playing Laura (name of one of my daughters). A masterpiece!

I really appreciate the opportunity to be with you in February, it was a real pleasure. Wait for the next one…

Have a nice weekend and great shave!

This is one heck of a delicious brush. Superb in performance in every degree. It’s a bit longer in loft, but I would not call this floppy; by no means. As with my boars, I simply hold the hairs between my thumb and index finger while rotating the brush on the load. Splay and retention are excellent.

Looking forward to the completion of OBiF as this blade is getting less comfortable quickly. I guess I could always drop a new Minora in and still be within the guideline.

Did you visit the Ach Brito storebn Lisbon, if that’s where you went

I went to Porto this go around. I was in Lisbon in 2019, just before the start of the pandemic, and missed the Ach Brito store then. I made purchases at A Vida Portuguesa in Chiado. The A Vida Portuguesa Clerigos in Porto near Livraria Lello had a small selection of shaving goods. I was hoping to get the Alvarez Gomez version of Agua de Colonia there.
Knock it off you two!!! Planning a trip to Portugal in September and I'll still be in the G.R.U.Y.E.R.E.!

(Also, sounds like you had a great trip. Glad to read.)

Tonight’s shave
Pre-Shave: Warm face wash
Razor: Gillette Black Beuaty (7/8)
Blade: Polsilver (1)
Brush: Simpsons Commodore X3
Soap: Signature Soaps Hibernian

Post-Shave: Alum Block
Davidoff Cool Water AS Splash
Bart’s Ben Kilbreck ASB
Castle Forbes Gentleman EDP

Brought out a vintage razor today for a change, for a 3 pass plus touch up shave. A fresh Polsilver blade with the first 2 passes on 7 and ATG on 8.
Considering the razor is 50+ years old it performed with aplomb resulting in a BBS finish. This will be my last shave of the month so onto the March GRUME I go.
Stay safe and look after each other 😎😎😎😎

Notes to today’s shave:

Still in! And feeling confident I am going to finish this one too!

Same setup as yesterday because it was that good. Well the brush is different because I rotate on a daily basis. I entered double digits with the Tiger yesterday, but I cannot remember ever taking a blade to 11 shaves.
Three passes later and I was done with mostly BBS- results as far as I am concerned.

Notes to today’s head shave:

I only did two passes and ended up with a mostly SAS result but that was not the purpose for today. I wanted to experience what it would be like.

@Jack Goossen said my skin could take it and a FOCS would make it. I hold Jack’s experience and views in very high esteem and with that I commenced the shave.

I did follow up with my Philishave to get a better overall result. But I had tons of fun!

Further details and more can be found in my journal here.

Enjoy your shave!
