Looks like it but it’s actually a thick plastic with some give to it that engulfs the razor when the magnetic seal closes, pretty slick.
Yeah, should help reduce humidity rust issues. As long as the user makes sure it is 100% dry when they put it away.
I can see someone leaving a drop or two of water in the scales, and the box trapping it in there with nowhere to go.

She honed up extremely well. I initially thought the curvature of the scales would get in the way of comfortable handling during honing and stropping but that was not the case, everything went smooth. The attention to detail is superb!
