I'm no good in trying to describe a scent, but Sterling has a description of the scent on their website.

Mild sweet tobacco and amber. It's a very pleasant scent. Can't recall the fragrance it's based on but it's might be considered old-fashioned by some.
I believe Gentleman is a Stirling original scent and not a dupe of something else.
Could be. My memory isn't very reliable. It's a really nice scent. Similar to Haverford but more well rounded.
I like it too. I use the soap and aftershave. Something about the scent takes me back to my childhood walking around in the old hardware store in my small town. I do find the scent changes a bit throughout the day but lasts a very long time.
Hoping it comes agin this spring.So I do a search on the Stirling site for Faskally and get nothing, am I?

What can I say, today's shave was a lavish one. I did a four-pass shave with the always brilliant and opulent Stirling Soap Company Faskally. The 26mm Winter Shine brush from AKA Brushworx whipped up some sublime lather and the Blackland Dart knocked my whiskers down like Kobe Bryant did on Jan. 22, 2006 when he scored 81 pts against the Toronto Raptors.
I finished this engagement off with some divine Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford and basked in its beautiful accord.

I wanted a menthol kick to wake me up today.
Nice, I love menthol and have this sample. That said, it's menthol level is disappointing when it's compared to PAA Cube preshave, but it's a great performer from Stirling. I can't wait until their Glacial line is back. Of course YMMV.
Just received my :
Executive Man Shave Soap and I had requested a sample of Gentleman , so they were nice enough to include a sliver of bath soap so I could smell it, haven't yet need to let my smeller relax some.

Does Stirling make anything that's considered a " old school soap " scent wise?
