Fake vintage Gillette?

Not sure what I have here. I bought this on Etsy for the handle, with only one picture posted by the seller, for under ten bucks. I had picked up an old Gillette at an antique store for $4 but the ball was missing from the handle, and thought this would be a correct replacement.

Got this one today and after giving it a bath, I noticed that there are no markings anywhere on the head, base plate, or even the handle. Every genuine Gillette razor I've seen (so far) has had country of origin, the Gillete diamond, a patent #.....something....stamped into it.

Is this a fake?

I believe there were many companies producing similar razors and this may be one such example. I do not regard it as a fake since a fake would carry Gillette branding and attempt to pass itself off as something it was not. The import thing is how it shaves

Still, I pulled the ball from the "hommage" handle and pushed it into the authentic handle to make that one more "complete" - though now it's technically a frankenrazor.

Here's my $12 creation. IT'S ALIVE!!!

Gillette Clone is how I would describe the razor. I have a few of them.

Yep, lots of Old Type clones out there made back in the day. Not surprisingly sometimes they shave poorly and then again some are great. I have a single ring clone that shaves better than the Gillette ones I own.

Congrats on the completed project, it looks fine.

I have a razor that has stumped me for years now. It seems like a clone new goodwill to me but with safety bars

That head is definitly not Gillette. The handle could be, not all are branded.
I'd have sent you what you needed for postage... still would! Nice old type head, badly cracked handle... good for parts, all Gillette
