I received a package yesterday so today’s shave was full of exciting new toys. My first go with the FOCS was not disappointing. It looks meaner than it is. This is my first experience with an open comb and also my first experience with a slant. I quite like the stable feel of the torqued blade. The Semogue SOC Taj was a delight to use, even on the first shave. The Cella confirms my suspicions that the Italians know what they’re doing in regards to good quality, affordable shave soaps.

Head Shave~
Prep: Hot Shower, Proraso beard wash and exfoliating scrub (on the beard and scalp).
Pre: Coconut Oil
Brush: Semogue SOC Taj
Soap: Cella
Razor: FOCS
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Post: Warm rinse, alum, cold rinse, Thayers WH, Proraso Red Balm.
Soundtrack: Long Season by Fishmans

WTG, ATG, touch ups.

One point deducted for a small nick on my ear. Otherwise it was a very effortless and smooth shave. BBS 9/10

I’ve been using a technique on my ATG pass/ touch ups where I’ll scoop some lather with my left hand and use it to find the missed patches of hair and also pull the skin tight, following with the razor with my right hand. Is there a name for this? Buffing?

Have a good Friday folks!

Friday an easy, nice, two-pass shave, DFS with no mishaps:

Razor: English Flat-Bottom Tech, thin handle
Blade: Treet Dura Sharp blue (1)- received this amongst a PIF courtesy of member @Paulford- thanks so much! I can't recall ever using any Treet blades and this one was fine, not overly sharp, quite easy to use; maybe the Tech razor helped
Soap: Stirling Orange Chill
Brush: Simpson Berkeley 46 in Best
Post-shave: Clubman AS, I use Clubman hair gel almost daily, so I guess most days are Clubman days

Have a great weekend!

Razor: 1947 Gillette Flat Bottom Tech on Phoenix Filament handle
Blade: Personna Red (2)

A super shave.

Razor handle minutiae:
I've been meaning to try out my Phoenix Filament handle for a while, but I'm so attached to my magical aluminum GT handle (by Doug (@Rosseforp)) that I had to force myself to do it.

I like the (nearly) see through look of the Filament, it's just the right length (for me) at 75mm (as is my GT). My Gillette FBT appreciated the Filament's 10-32 threading (versus the GT's M5 x 0.8mm threading). The Filament handle weighs 6g versus the GT's 14g; being an LHF, I'm happy with both of these lightweights.

The Filament handle's downside, on its first outing this evening, was that I noticed it was there a couple of times during the shave (shock horror :eek6:). I do like it... but it'll be back to my beloved GT next shave. :yesnod:

Happy shaves guys. :cornut:
