Wolfman: On the waiting list. Questions.

Hmm. I bought the WR1 .86. Really like it. I chose it simply because it was the biggest gap available on the Google form. I didn't ask if bigger gaps are available, but obviously they are.

My first shave with the SS 0.94 SB on a Darwin Handle, and I am blown away!
How's it possible that I did not care for the 0.86SB but love this? Some questions,
like love, should not be probed so deeply, or they lose their allure.

I'm a strictly two-pass guy...and I usually follow up with an exclusive neck-only pass
(east-west)

The 0.94 is one of those razors that creates this vacuum suction kind of effect
on the cheeks....the only other razor that did this for me is the Blackbird SS.
The weight of this combo was exactly 85 grams and I used a very light touch,
with zero pressure, where the razor literally glides over the skin.

End result was fantastic...no nicks of any sort....very comfortable, no irritation.
The razor that comes closest to this one is the Blackbird, but I feel the 0.94 surpassed
the former by quite a bit, especially in the face feel department. And it is more efficient.

Blade feel: in no way did this razor feel intimidating, despite its caption of being the
most aggressive WR1 gap. My 1.35 and 1.55 exhibit more blade feel. I actually think the
0.94 might be as smooth as 1.35...but it's a different kind of face feel and smoothness.

This razor also extinguishes my desire to look at other new razors in the market that adopt
the sleek low profile head aesthetic...we know who they are , no need to stir up controversy.

I tried a once-used wizamet super iridium in this razor and both paired well. I was expecting this
razor to be in the WR2 1.35 ballpark and it did not disappoint. Loot said that both 1.35 and 0.94
get you to the same destination, but via a different route.

I can say, with utmost confidence, that with the 0.94, I really enjoyed the journey.
Great to hear the shave matches the razor. That is a beautiful set up. We don't see many WR1 SB's with the Darwin handle.

My WR1 OC 0.80 landed yesterday.
Manufacturing, fit and finish are flawless and I must say that the finish, being « only » standard polished, is striking.

I only ordered the head that I have paired with my Stork Titanium handle, giving me a total weight of 77 g and a balance of 38% (head) / 62% (handle) close to my preferred 40%/60% ratio.

I had my first shave with it this morning.

Blade: Gillette Platinum,
Soap: MdC Original,
Brush: Shavemac Americana 26/52 Silvertip D0-1 2-Band

I did my usual 3 passes, WTG, XTG and ATG.
The razor feels well in hand, just the right weight and balance. Angle is quite easily found and (for me) blade feel is minimal, I almost don’t feel it. On this subject, it is very close to my Gillette NEW LC.
The 3 passes went like a breeze and here I am, shaved :)

The result is a nice irritation-free smooth shave, a few small PDS (always the case when using a new razor for the first time) and an « almost » BBS. It is only my first time, so let me use it daily for a few weeks.

As a comparison, it is very close in feel and result to my 1935 Gillette NEW LC I use as my daily driver.
It is very smooth and with a comparable, but not better, efficiency with my NEW.
There is no hint of aggressiveness and can easily be use as a daily driver.

I will try to update my report after a few weeks of use, after gaining more experience with it.

.....And some porn below ;)

Great review!! I have the same one coming very soon.

Hi, gents,

Turn came up again. I have a WR2 1.25 w/80 mm Solid. I love it but for Day 1 to 3 growth, it’s a bit too aggressive. I was originally going to try a WR2 1.05 (after much consideration of the 1.15) with 90 Hollow but now thinking:

1. 1.05 Head only.
2. 1.05 w/90 Solid.

Thoughts?

TIA!

DW.

My 2nd is on its way to me. I went head only.

I went for 1:05 with 90 hollow. I have only had 3 shaves so far and still have some blade feel but admittedly I’m still getting used to it and trying blades. I was going to go for the 1:15 but chickened out going for the 1.05. I wanted to enjoy the razor considering the 6 month wait for another head. I really love the razor.

I find the 90mm solid quite heavy and much prefer the 80mm for weight. Unless you wanted something with more heft. I don't like the hollow handles, just sold mine. This was the WRH2.

1.05 sounds good for daily shaves, I have the .95 and would like a little more efficiency.

Just curious, what don't you like about the hollow handles? I have solid handle with my WR2 and it is pretty heavy. While I've gotten used to the weight, I've been curious about the hollow handles, especially if I were to ever order another Wolfman.

Great. Thanks, gents.

Yeah, turns out, I love the 80 Solid (was thinking of 90 Hollow second time around) but I don’t think I like light handles anymore, eg Tatara. The 90 Solid does seem quite heavy. The 80 is nice as it does the work for me. Lighter handles now I find I apply pressure.

I think I will get 1.05 head only.

Personally they feel too light and the balance is better with a short 80mm or the narrower WRH3. It's just what I prefer.

Yeah, turns out, I love the 80 Solid

It's the perfect handle for me, WRH1 or 2 and works with both WR1 and WRH2 heads.

Just to elaborate. My favorite handle is the Timeless knurled handle so my Wolf handle is in a drawer unused. I figured why spend more $ on something I most likely will not use. Thats why I went head only.
