Shimming?...Give that blade some wood!
Today I’m starting an ongoing experiment involving shimming the blades. I decided to start with the very mild shaving “Black Tip”. I usually like this razor with an agressive blade such as a Feather or Kai, but today I’m going with a Gillette Platinum. You’re probably assuming I’m shimming underneath it give it a bigger gap, but not today. Today I decided to keep the gap the same but add the shim to the top to strengthen the blade and make it inflexible. Micro chatter? If there is such a thing I’m determined to give that blade extra stiffness. I can’t swear on a stack of bibles if it really changed anything, but this mild shaving razor gave me a super BBS that required very little touching up. Not only that, but my post shave face is as comfortable as skin that has not been touched by any kind of razor.
You can decide for yourself what kind of merit this shave deserves, but I’m going to continue this experiment. For my next shave, I’m going to shim the bottom to increase the gap while increasing the blade stiffness.

not to mention COOL. 
Last night I got the feeling that I should give my Henson trial a break and slot something else in there. Immediately I knew it had to be my ultra expensive ($2.69 P&G Chinese) 2020 Gillette Tech.
Well, for sure I wasn't disappointed. I've been getting lots of great shaves recently but this one has to be the best so far.

What a good one. Barrbarr might be my favorite barbershop scent now, although the splash smells too much like bubble gum, weirdly. Mine has a rusty cap, so maybe something's off. But excellent glide, and the Rocnel with a Super Iridium was super smooth.
