"Look what I found"
I scored this stone today. I would loved to have known this before it was butchered. I currently is 3 x 1 1/2 inches but probably started life as a 7 x 1 1/2. It will make a nice rub stone or two

Looks like a Petite Blanche ? Is it a fast stone ?
Beautiful little gem.

That would be a good guess. Never know with these vintage gems. Have not used it yet, nothing needs a touch up. I will say, for only being 8 square inches, it was a bear to lap

The only advise I can give us to brace yourself. The hybrid side is usually quite hard.

I have lapped two with a Dia-Flat 95 and then a progression of 325, 425, 600 w/d to remove all scratches. Lots and lots of elbow grease required. I even resorted to using some slurry off the yellow to help speed things along. Not sure if it helped.

I inquired about that they are going to lap it for me. If it's not right, I have some sic powder laying around.

On an unrelated note, Dibs on that stone Brian posted if he gets struck by lightning/a meteor/eaten by a bear/etc.
Eaten by a bear was a very real possibility on a bike ride a couple years back. Big full grown Black Bear stepped out into the road in front of me. Now I grew up in the mountains and know how to avoid bear trouble, but on a road bike, rolling towards the bear, left me feeling very exposed. Too close to stop and running gets you eaten so I just got as far to the edge of the road as possible and rolled by him very slow and very calm. We stared at each other real hard and I was worried that once he saw my back I would be in trouble, but he let me go by. He likely knew that the amount of poop he would have had to wade through to catch me made me more trouble than I was worth. In stone news, I just measured it and it is 220mm long and 29mm thick on one end and 27mm thick on the other.

Rescued my first full sized Stone in a while. Judging by the etchings on the surface, look like it was used on fish hooks, a Awl, or such. Cleaned up nicely with a big slug of manganese in the side lurking just below the surface

Gorgeous stone! I am looking for a stone exactly like this. I put in an email to Rob / Maurice to see what they have available since there doesn't seem to be much available on the secondary market.

I think these pictures are already posted somewhere here on B&B but since everyone else is posting there cotis ... :001_smile

I have no idea what vein it is and still haven't really figured them out. I'm getting decent shaves though so I'm getting close :biggrin1:

My Wednesday morning market is turning into quite a honey hole and I am on a role with 2x4 Coti’s. A nice, and surprising hard natural with a slight wave came home today. Has a interesting layer in the cream giving it a swirled surface. Also had a third cream band in the BBW. A lot of personality packaged in a small stone
