Great photo. What year was it taken?
I would have to ask my older brother. It may have been around the same time I was born. 1968.
I might just have to post a photo of me on my 20th bday. I was a punk rocker back then. I kind of looked like Billy Idol.
Oh well, here it is. Aug 6, 1988. The girl on my lap with part of her head cut of was my girlfriend.

Gawd, I can practically smell the aviation gas. Do you paint with an airbrush? The feathering on the engine nacelles is outstanding.

Thank you sir! Yes, I paint with a airbrush with the exception of small detail painting and dry brush techniques.
However, the exhaust stains were done with a black pigment powder that was brushed on.

If it is sunny out tomorrow, I will take some photos of my tank models, and a dragon that I did. I also use pigment powders for powder burns on gun barrels and dirt effects.
I wish my brother did not live out of state. He takes great photos!

Your photos are just fine, my friend. It's the subject that counts.

I live in a village called Wendy that backs onto Bassingbourn airfield in England.Bassingbourn was where the Memphis Bell flew from as I understand it.I think over two thousand US aircrew did not return to Bassingbourn while on operations. Back in 1995 ,80 yards from our house the front end of a Mustang was found drilled into the earth with the pilots legs, they had just cleared the wreckage and remains in the 40s that was on the surface and left the rest .The plane was an escort for the bombers and flew from Steeple Morden .My dad used to watch the bombers returning from operations with his mates sitting by the airfield .They used to fire flares out of the planes to tell ground crew about dead and wounded aboard the bombers ,some used to land badly shot up some without wheels and belly flopped across the airfield,he said it was quite something to watch. They are owed rememberance and thanks. Sorry I dont have photos ,the airfiled is now an army base and patrolled.

So Cool! I'll bet that photo brings back a lot of good memories.
Lots of good memories! Just wish that I never broke up with my girlfriend at the time. Her name is Heather. Oh well, lost loves. But the cool part is that I have friends that I have known for 30 years or more. My best friend I have know since 1978, when we were 10.

Thank you for your reply. I have great respect for our veterans. I hope that you are staying warm. I live In North Port, Florida U.S. It is warm and sunny today, so I am going to take some outdoor photos of some of my other models and post them.
Take care sir.

Some may wonder why I don't have any tanks like the M1 Abrams or the Tiger or Panther tanks. It is because I got back into the hobby in 2019, after being away from it so long. I don't have anything from my old collection. I learned some new techniques. So I wanted to practice on other tanks before moving on to my favorites.
Anyhow, please meet Heidi[WW2 German Panzer IV] and a Panzer II light tank from the North Africa theater.
