Do you organize your greenbacks or <insert the color(s) of your nation's currency here>backs with the largest denomination facing out or is it the small bills you show off to the world?

A somewhat related question, I assume I'm not the only person who organizes their paper notes so their all oriented the same way. That is all the dead president's, king's, queen's, Chief Tobi, etc. heads are facing the same way. But are there any other OCD lunatics who organize the individual denominations from low to high by serial number? This isn't something I do regularly but have been known to if exceptionally bored while waiting for a flight, etc. And as long as I'm sharing my currency related quirks back when we still had paper money, cotton really, and not this annoying polymer stuff I would also occasionally iron my money. I liked how it made the bills feel crisp and new. Try that with the current notes and you'd end up with shrinky-dinks.

I carry no cash unless the restaurant I'm going to excepts only cash...which is very rare. Carrying cash means I've got to stand at line at the bank or pay a fee for convenience at an atm which is not my bank.

I stick my bills in at random when I'm on the go: sometimes booklet style, sometimes individually folded. I never bother to face them. Every once in a while in a private moment, I'll sort and fold them booklet style, lowest denominations on the outside.

No serial numbering order, but I do sort by the condition of the bill, from old, dirty, and torn bills to new ones, with the intent on spending the disheveled bills first.

When i first visited the USA in 2001, i got my foreign currency from my bank in the UK and looked at this stack of identically sized and identically coloured bills and thought "***?" - how do i separate these in my wallet.

I did get a great tip from a colleague tho, about keeping "singles" in my pocket.

I only use a clip on holidays for the Real small notes depending the notes sorted on denomination or size. It is just for small food, tips, drink etc.
The bigger ones I store somewhere under my clothes.

Always annoyed by it especially the coins. The pennys WHY O Why????
Canada killed the penny in 2012. It was long overdue and they should have done away with the nickel at the same time. The nickel has always annoyed me. Never enough to purchase anything with it, its large & bulky relative to its worth and at least in Canada it has a big rat on one side and an irrelevant queen on the other. Useless coin

Where I like the notes get larger as the value increases, so the big bills go on the outside.

Not the nickel, but the DIME should have been killed. It's not about being able to purchase something with it, but utility. You can use the nickel with a quarter to make all the change you need, after the elimination of the penny, so the dime is superfluous. It's the same reason you never see a $10 chip in a casino. Just use to fives (or nickels, when talking about change).

Big bills on the outside, but my clip is only for 20s and 50s. The 5s and 10s get folded into my Ridge wallet for daily stuff like tea from Timmies.

On a side note, I keep the 1 and 2 dollar coins in a film cannister in my car. Saves having to have them in my pocket. Still don't get why you Yanks haven't killed both the dollar bill or the penny

Round everything to the nearest 10¢. As for utility, the quarter can be used as a flat head screwdriver for larger slotted screws and dimes for smaller, the nickel is redundant. And besides, the dime is cute

Naah . . . monetarily, it works better with nickels and not dimes. And consumers are not going to stand for rounding to the nearest dime. They'll say exactly what I did . . . get rid of the dime and keep the nickel.

Casinos figured this out years ago . . .

Chips came as nickels, quarters, dollars, $5, $25 ($20s in CA), $100, $500, $1000, $5000, and $25000. They no longer use the "change", but the progression is sound, and it's why the money supply should go the same way. I will admit to never understanding why the $20.00 chip never got more "play", though.

Smallest bills on the outside, with note value increasing the further you go down the stack. In fact, I do my best to keep one or two one-dollar bills to keep on the outside. I don't like giving hints as to how much I'm carrying.

I don't care at all about how the bills are oriented.

Decades ago I worked in a high volume gas station for years, mostly cash-based, and I always stacked my cash with ones on the inside, 5s on the outside and 10s and 20s in the middle, each denomination turned consistently as to whether the back of the bill or front was facing up. It was easier to make change and keep track of everything this way, and not give out a ten, for instance, when you meant to give out a one or a five. In fact, if I was being really careful I would keep the 20s separate, because you really did not need them to make change.

Now I keep the largest bills on the outside, because when I open the folded bills the lowest denominations will be on top and the largest on the bottom. Just helps keep track and makes it less likely to give out a higher denomination bill by accident. Also, if someone robbed me in the street they would think they were getting more rather than less. I would not want someone to shoot me because they thought they were getting only a handful of ones.

If I took the time I would sort the different denominations as to which side faced up or down, as above.
