Clubman Pinaud Bay Rum

Yesterday my wife presented me with a bottle of Clubman Pinaud Bay Rum. Apparently she's fed up with my Turkish Lemon Kolonya.
Is it just me or does it smell like a bottle of old spice that's gone off?

I wasn’t fond of it and was very happy when I emptied the bottle. I should have tossed it out, but hated to and my wife didn’t buy it. Sometimes I wonder whether another bay rum would please me.

Also, vintage Avon Bay Rum is great stuff.

Probably wouldn't like Pineaud special reserve then. Very strong scent that lasts and lasts, My wife loved it right off the bat, I didn't like it at first but now I do.

Probably not. Will stick to the Turkish stuff.

There are many fans of Pinaud's Clubman Bay Rum, myself among them.
I never thought of it as a controversial or acquired taste.
I actually consider it one of the better Bay Rums being produced to-day.
Just further proof, I suppose, that Bay Rums can be a very personal choice.

I think scents smell differently from person to person. Something that smells great in one guy won't on another.

I don’t find it similar to Old Spice at all and I’d agree that it’s probably one of the better bay rums out there. In Bootlegger’s mix it’s magic.

There’s that for sure. OTOH, I thought Haslinger Sandelholz was meh, but Proraso Red is great.

To me, Clubman Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum is not at all like Old Spice.
Heavy on bay and clove, IMHO.
But nice, for me.

Tried it, but had very little smell. Maybe got a bad bottle. Ive read St. Johns is a decent one. Might have to try it.

I always say you smell delish, especially for an old man!

I'm not sure Avon Bay Rum can be beat, not affordably anyway.
