Made a razor

Too bad these test razors are taking you so long to build. You could just wait until a razor you want is available, order online and relax until it’s delivered. In my experience that can sometimes be accomplished in less than a year.

On a more humble note, you are embarrassing those of us with low metalworking skills. I have been fantasizing ‘slantifying’ a Fatip head for over a year. Still thinking about it...

Thank you. V3 is finished, still closer to a devette than a safety razor, but milder than V2.

Thank you all. V4 is in the works, but it will be documented in the SE forum.

I like your razor. I have tried making three razors. All shave every well, but look quite rough. One has a baseplate from 1 1/2 inch PVC. One is made from welded mild steel rod and bar. One is from 1/8 x 1 inch aluminum bar. The one from PVC and the one from aluminum require fiddling with the blade to align it, but that does work for me. My favorite is the aluminum razor. Today I used it with a Wilkinson Sword blade and the shave was better than ever with an Astra SP or a Dollar General blade. Some of the difficulties you mentioned are the same problems I experienced. But, there is a lot of satisfaction with getting a very smooth, close shave from a razor you have made. My RAD just melts away.
